Overview
About Me
We are Hanna (27) and Lauri, (31) living in the centre of Helsinki (in the "design district"). In general we like to enjoy life. Hanna is a primary school teacher at the moment, Lauri is a doctoral student on educational psychology. We love to travel and experience different cultures and in return we are more than willing to help travellers explore the finnish culture. Our travel philosophy is quite simple, we tend to not make too specific plans or to-do lists. We enjoy taking our time and travelling slow and easy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have participated in the community by couchsurfing around the world and we have had the pleasure to be hosted by incredibly nice people. We've also been offering our lovely apartment and friendly service to fellow couchsurfers. Lately we have been quieter with couchsurfing though...but we're always up to meeting new people.
Interests
We both enjoy the outdoors, good food and travelling, both the natural and urban sceneries. We also love sighthounds, and we currently have one Italian.
Hanna likes photography, arts & crafts, boxing, nature & outdoor activities, culture, cheap wine, girly stuff, sleeping.
Lauri likes mountains, bouldering and sports climbing, backcountry snowboarding, bikes, dreaming of learning to surf, random facts, beer, coffee, hockey and other sports that involve sticks or rackets, sleeping.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh there's so many. One of the amazing experiences was getting stuck with a 2-wheel drive in the backcountry of West Timor, survived with the help of locals, should've been a 4-wheel drive. Another amazing experience was spending a smooth sunday with the local friends in Katutura-township in Windhoek, Namibia. First time standing up on a surfboard was great, being cut in the forehead by the fin and getting stitched later was not so great. Deepfried Snickers.

Travelling tips to Finland
- If you come to Finland in the wintertime, some locals might trick you to go to the sauna and then to go rolling in the snow naked. You really don't have to roll in the snow if you don't want to, it's not really a tradition.
- When you meet a bear, play dead or back off slowly & silently. If it attacks cover your head and neck with your arms, pretend to be a rock.
- in the winter, have a pair of good (high top, water resistant) shoes with you.
