About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Doing whatever excites me

ABOUT ME

Well.. where do one begin? Feels like I'm at a job interview at the moment, answering or trying to make out the RIGHT answer to "what are your best qualities?" "what can YOU bring to the table " but here at CS it's instead: "please like me! please, pick me to surf at and please let me crash on your couch. I'm really cool, open minded, I love to meet new people an try out new activities" But.. well, yes. I guess it is your lucky day! I AM that cool, laid back, open for anything. (except snails.. don't even go there. Just don't serve it to me as a dish and never talk about it.. everyone's allowed one great fear, and mine happens to be quite small but still scary as hell..)Oh. Kind of lost track here, should probably re-do this profile one of these days but until then, all you need to know besides my fear of snails is that I'm really easy going, I've lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 other girls so I've learned (the hard way) the importance of compromising, showing respect, being there for the good and the bad, but also how fun it is to always have friends around and constantly getting to know new people. If I'd have to list hobbies traveling would definitely and above all come first. Since I was a kid I've always loved to travel and experience new cultures and the best part about traveling is that you can never do it too much, on the contrary, there's so many places left where I wanna go! Other than that I have kind of a split personality, enjoying silence, nature, meditation, yoga and time alone, creating art and writing poesm BUT also hectic cities, good wine and CARBS, adventures, socializing and netflix. But then again, don't we all have many facets to our personalities?

PHILOSOPHY

This could take a while. Haven't really worked on that one yet but what I've realized is that it takes three parts of activities to make a day feel complete: doing something physical, something cultural and something social. Besides that I'll hopefully get a sense of purpose with life along the way. That's part of growing up I've heard?!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To be honest it's been a long time since I've been active here but HEY, now I've finally got a permanent adress (for a while) so hook me up if you want to hang out or need tips for Bali, I'm hoping to be able to host a few people along the way as well but as I've only got one room and one bed I'm not going to be honest and admit that the vibe has to be right for that to happen, and preferably girls!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've only hosted and showed people around but have had great experiences doing it and can only praise the CS community for getting me in touch with some many fantastic beings.

Music, Movies, and Books

Best band ever. THE CURE. Besides that, there's endless of good bands from every genre to pick from and it's constantly popping up new ones. Same for movies even if Cidade de deus and Amelie de Montmartre are two long lasting favorites. Books. After some reluctance (have you seen the size of it?!) I recently decided to take on the mission of reading Shantaram, and I can't believe I hadn't read it sooner. If you haven't, just do it. Seriously. Just do it. Thuesdays with Morrie and Wuthering Heights, and basically everything by Jane Austen are favorites as well. (this I wrote a couple of years ago haha but although the list has changed a lot I'm just going to keep it, Shantaram still rocks and was definitely a big motivation behind my trip to India)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know why I come back to this certain memory when I'm asked a question like this but one of my favorite memories is from a summer in Spain. I was 16 years old and traveling by myself for the first time with the intention of learning Spanish (didn't get further than "Una cerveza por favor") but I stayed in Cadiz in the south of Spain and strolled around the harbor a perfectly warm night. Got out on the small fortress that's located there and along with other tourists and Spaniards enjoyed the most perfect sunset I've ever seen. Somewhere in the background it was some sort of meditative yoga/hippie music playing but it was absolutely perfect. I remember that I was so happy, I'd had a perfectly cooked fish just before for dinner, and I was standing there thinking that "this is a perfect moment of happiness." Most often I find myself looking back at memories, realizing afterwards how good they were but at that moment I knew how amazing it was and how I'd always come back to that spot and that night in my mind whenever I'd need a happy place. (I'm going through all the things I wrote on CS when I first got it so now 3 years later its so much fun to read this and think back on. There's been many, many happy moments since but let's create a new one together whover you are reading this!)

Something I've learnt from traveling is to appreciate every single moment and every unique meeting no matter how long it lasts. I remember when I was younger and going to cool places, thinking: "Wow, I have to come back here!" Rather than fully enjoying being at that place NOW. I will forever carry in my heart all those beautiful memories of people and places but life happens in the present, not in the past or in the future so whatever comes - just be there fully and it will be amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

People being passionate about ANYTHING is the most amazing thing ever and it warms my heart every day to think about all the passionate souls out there, sometimes I'm lucky to meet a few and connect with; teach, learn and share - whatever it is.

I'm always down for learning new things, at the moment I'm trying to start of my new musical path (my family would laugh out loud here) with learning to play jew's harp (its a serious matter for someone that cant keep a beat) and walk a slack-line (a few years ago i'd never even gotten up on one!) and besides that I'm starting a course in Bahasa - cinta cinta cinta - first word down (meaning love!)

But teach me anyting you know, cooking skills, words of wisdom, an awkawrd silence hehe.
