About Me

I grew up in Colorado and moved to San Diego, California to go to college. I'm currently in Istanbul, Turkey studying abroad and traveling around Europe!

I'm a 21 year old, open-minded person who has always had a mind for adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently, I'm on an adventure with my best friend, Monica, as we study abroad in Istanbul, Turkey.

As we attempt to see all we can in the short period of 6 months, we are hoping to meet people and learn about difficult cultures from locals.

We would love to host people in San Diego, once we get home in June.

Interests

I love reading, hiking, and running, as well as meeting new people are trying to understand new cultures.

I love fine wine, craft beer, and good food!

When hiking and traveling I love to see what makes every place unique, and how it shapes everyone around them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a wide range in taste of music, with some examples being indie, EDM, and classical rock. I love the Alabama Shakes, Hozier, and Glass Animals, just as much as I love Chet Faker and Kygo. My dad was a dead head, so I love them and all of that type of music as well.

Since the dawn of Netflix, I haven't been much of a movie watcher, but I will watch just about anything!

I'm also open when it comes to books. I love nonfiction books as much as I love fiction books. While I've read all the Harry Potter books, and I'm working on Game of Thrones. I also love classics like Animal Farm, anything by Fitzgerald, Lolita, On the Road, Three Cups of Tea, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm currently teaching a class to Syrian refugees girls at a nonprofit center in Istanbul. It's such a rewarding experience! I teach a 'culture day' class where I teach about the history and culture of different countries.

Using CR to travel around the world, I'm hoping to use those experiences to teach the girls!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm hoping to learn as much as possible from hosts, and hopefully I can reciprocate this! Through studying abroad, I've learned how gratifying it is to share cultures with others, and I can't wait to keep this going throughout my whole semester.
