About Me

I'm an American student currently attending university in Maryland. I study International Politics and Anthropology, in addition to Ethnomusicology which is the relationship between music and culture. I'm a laid back person and I like meeting new people and hearing their stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I look forward to meeting new people and seeing new cities through their perspectives when traveling, and couchsurfing allows me to do just that. I became interested in couchsurfing when I was living abroad in Malaysia and met a great group of people through there. Couchsurfing brings together diverse groups of people and it is a community I am proud to be part of.

Interests

Traveling, of course! I've lived abroad in three different countries now and feel very lucky to have friends and family around the world. When I'm not trying to buy cheap plane tickets online, I can be found taking photos of wherever I'm living at the time and drinking lots of tea at outdoor cafes when the sun is nice. I love animals, especially dogs.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I lean toward alternative music but that's such a broad category! I like the bands The Growlers, Portugal, The Man, Vampire Weekend to name a few. Also fond of The Beatles and classic rock as it's what I listened to with my dad growing up.
Movies: I haven't seen a ton of movies but I'm always willing to watch what people are interested in.
Books: A little bit of everything. Dean Koontz is a favorite author of mine, and I like similar adventure type novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ask me about how I'm twitter famous in Malaysia ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Always good conversation, I can teach people basic Dutch and Malay if they would be interested.
I would love to learn how to cook dishes from different countries.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am currently in university studying international relations and anthropology, so I am always excited and willing to have conversations with people about these, or really any topics. I've lived abroad in a few different places so I also bring quite a diverse perspective with me. I like cooking and trying new foods and although American cuisine is a bit of a complex concept, I'd be willing to make dinner with a host. I'd love to bring you some Chinese sweets from Beijing!
