About Me

Hi,
I´m Hannah, studying in wonderful Nijmegen, coming from beautiful Wiesbaden in Germany :)
When I traveled through Romania and a few other countries in Eastern Europe, I had the most wonderful experiences thanks to my great CS host! So I´d love to give a little bit of that back to others coming to Nijmegen.

I´m not sure yet how much I want and manage to host next uni and other stuff to do, but don´t hesitate to ask!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling, exploring new places and other cultures and meeting interesting people. (As probably everyone does here)
I had a great trip through Romania and some more places after graduating from highschool. I met wonderful and kind CS people so that I want to become more active again, now that I feel a bit home in my new town :)

CS seems to me like a perfect way of exploring a country, a region or a city: I think that travelling should be so much more than looking at sights and walking through cities, it should be about meeting people who live in the places you visit, about getting to know them and learning about their way of life, the things they love or maybe don´t like about their home.

Interests

I love watersports - it´s always great to explore from the water. At home in Wiesbaden, my regular sport is Dragonboat but i do also enjoy kayak and canoe trips :D Those trips have always been the best kind of holidays for me.
I like photography in two ways: Looking at the work of others as well as taking photos on my own (Though i´m in no way professional haha). Through photos you can dive into another world-they express so many different things and feelings. And they can make you notice and appreciate so many different little details.
Then, well, as mentioned above: It´s always interesting to explore new and so far foreign cities, regions, countries, cultures and meeting people living there.
I really enjoy being out in nature though I think that i´m still a "town-person", I like reading (and i always think that its a pity that i often dont have enough time for it), I´m interested in History as well as in political and social and environmental issues. I like reading about those issues and discussing them and from time to time I get really angry at myself because I feel that I don´t do enough yet to change the things that are no good in my eyes. So I guess that´s still to come!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: good oldies (from The Beatles over Pink Floyd, Dire Straights and Supertramp to Simon and Garfunkel) but of course also new stuff (different genres depending on situation and mood)
Aaaaand I love this uncomparable atmosphere when sitting around a campfire while someone is playing the guitar and the others sing (sadly, i can´t play the guitar)
Usually, I´m always happy to get to know new bands and new music :)

Books: puuh difficult... but I love books about history or historical novels and travel reports/literature. Then I really appreciate everything I´ve read so far from Hermann Hesse (which is of course faaaaaar away from all his work). Also I like this classic "Into the wild" by John Krakauer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I´ve started to learn a bit Romanian (really a little bit) and i´d love to improve it!
Of course I can help others with their German!
- well, i´ve forgotten nearly everything Romanian that has ever been in my brain I guess, but I guess that´s also because I´ve learned Dutch this summer and am studying in Dutch since september. Everything in my head is Dutch-german now, so if you want to learn one of those two languages.. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Exchange about / Sharing of ideas, interests, opinions and knowledge
- Discussions and long conversations
- Maybe we can cook together... or i cook for you ( I wouldn´t say that that i have extraordinary cooking skills but its enough for some nice meals. )
