About Me
I'm currently traveling around Europe for a few months, it's my first time here and very exciting! I'm about to move to Finland for the rest of the year :D
I love consuming art and history - books, films, tv, theatre, museums, galleries, streets, restaurants, parks, driving - I want to see as much of everything as I can.
Lived in and around Wellington most of my life (which is beautiful and a great place to live - do go there) apart from a hectic but fun year in New Orleans, USA and 4 years in Vancouver, Canada.
LGBTQIA* positive (the - LBTQIA bit actually has meaning to me, I'm not a "Lettuce, Gay, Bacon and Tomato" type :P).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To make connections - the best way to experience new places is with people who know where to go and who love the place they live. I love catching people's enthusiasm for their surroundings.
Interests
Into history, especially indigenous conceptions of history and early cross cultural pollination, but pretty much anything more than ten minutes old is interesting to me (the past is a foreign land etc).
Love food - always looking for anything - street food, fast food, home cooked food, restaurant food. Not a very confident cook, but I'm learning!
Exploring the outdoors - anything from thru hiking national parks to driving around the suburbs in my hometown looking for new ways to get somewhere or lookouts I've never noticed before.
I'm really into social justice and creating equality. I apologise in advance for any long windedness on this or any other topic.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books - David Graeber is my favourite (Gone too soon, rest in peace). Ummmm I love Ann Leckie and Terry Pratchett.
Films - Secretary may be the greatest romcom of all time. Also love Pride, Wayne's World I and II, Cronenberg (especially Crash and Videodrome) and Mike Nicholls (Angels in America is A++).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got told off by a former Prime Minister of New Zealand for not recognising him? (Right wing Prime Minister at a conference I was helping organise - not even sorry lol)
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, New Caledonia, Scotland, United States
