About Me

writing about me is kind of difficult. i don't really know who i am yet. i am kind of trying to figure that out at the moment. that is why i decided not to go the usual route starting university right after graduating from high school: i decided to go on a little adventure. and as a core element of an adventure, nothing is ever really planned, nothing ever works out the way you imagined but it will be so much greater than you had imagined in the beginning.
i decided to go to nepal and teach english at a small school in a tiny village in the mountains. i had an incredible time there but the school is now on an indefinite holiday as there is a fuel/cooking gas crisis in nepal right now. so instead of just staying in nepal for a month without really knowing what to do, i decided to hop on a plane and see a bit of south east asia. i am starting in malaysia, then going to vietnam and then will see wherever my adventure leads me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i first heard about couchsurfing when i was about ten years old. my dad told me about it and how interesting he thought this new website was and i remember making plans to use this awesome website at some point in the future. since then i have heard from different friends about their really great couchsurfing experiences. last summer my little sister hosted some people and i really enjoyed the evenings together with really cool people from all around the world where we got to show them our little home town salzburg. i really hope that i can meet great people from the countries i will visit in the next couple of weeks and hope to give them something of my culture and i really hope they can show me around their homes!

Interests

i guess one of my main interests is traveling. it always has been. when i was 15 i did an exchange year in seattle. this first experience exploring a place on my own (for an entire year) without my family really shaped me and my views. after that i slowly started to visit european cities on my own and now ended up on a 4.5 month trip all throughout asia.
i was the kind of kid who would read books further than my parents could buy new ones but i have always been bad with libraries (i tend to forget when i have to bring the books back, or i am overwhelmed by how many great books i find, that i take them all, and then fail reading them all, and don't want to bring them back to the library before finishing them.). so for a very long time i have spent pretty much all my money on books.
and food. maybe. i really love food. i mean, who doesn't, but i really like food. so traveling and getting to taste completely new dishes that taste different from anything i've ever had before is a pretty exciting thing for me. after having dal bhat (traditional nepali dish consisting of rice, lentils and curry), which is absolutely delicious, at least once a day for 6 weeks i am happy to taste new things though.
photography is one of my most important hobbies. i have always had a fascination for it and with every photo i take i learn something new, get to capture new emotions, and hope to share moments i see with the rest of the world. i especially enjoy photographing when i travel because everything is so new and there is so much to capture but i think capturing the daily moments of our lives we so often tend to forget also has an incredible beauty to it.
