My husband and I are professional musicians, and we live in New York City, both for teaching and performing. We met and graduated from a music program in western New York (which is where I am from), but he is actually from San Francisco. I mainly play classical music, and he primarily does jazz/contemporary. We love watching movies, going on hikes, drinking good wine, cooking, and exploring new places. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My husband and I are on Couchsurfing because we are constantly traveling, both for work and for pleasure, and we would like a more personal type of housing option. In many places we've stayed in hotels, and it tended to be culturally isolating, lacking in the kind of warmth and local color we had hoped for in our travels. We are both young musicians, and we really enjoy growing our network of acquaintances & friends around the world!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done so far is live out of a car for 6 months in the Bay Area while holding down a full time job, and STILL managing to keep it a secret. Before my husband and I were married, we were living in San Francisco for work and family. Some complicated things happened on the family front, and our living accommodations fell through. We bought an SUV from an older couple way north of the city, and spent the next few weeks renovating it to include a wooden loft, drawers, and adequate privacy so we could live in it as comfortably as possible! All the while, we were still showing up to work as private music teachers nearly every day. For a while, we were showering at the beach 30 minutes away, but eventually we found a semi-public shower in an office building near where we worked. We even made friends with the police, since they kept waking us up in the middle of the night due to "suspicious activity" (aka a car with covered windows in a residential neighborhood). At some point, they told us that they wouldn't bother us anymore, and that they knew our car now. It was definitely an adventure—one of many!
