About Me

***I can't figure out how to use my host calendar, but I'm traveling August 22-September 9***

I do marketing for a small travel agency that focuses on Australia and New Zealand (but no, I haven't been to either... yet!).

Outside of work: I'm down for pretty much anything. I love going to music and comedy shows, especially when they're free! When I'm traveling, I don't want to waste a second of it. I love trying new foods or local beers, hiking and other outdoorsy stuff, and going out to meet lots of new people. (But I still need some alone time every day or I get crabby.)

HI PLEASE READ THIS: I get more requests than I can handle, so if yours doesn't seem personalized (like you've actually read my profile and think we'll get along), I will not respond.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I think capitalism is a really destructive system, and I like to operate outside of that system as much as I can. I think sharing what you have, trusting in the kindness of fellow humans, and BEING the type of good human you'd like to encounter on your travels is the key to a happy life. So, I'm happy to share what I have (my home, my knowledge, my time) with like-minded people. :)

Also, as a traveler, I really want the local experience. I don't care about the tourist attractions. I'd rather hang out in an awesome dive bar, drink wine with good people in a cozy apartment, or go to an underground party.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first used CS when I was traveling in Europe on a super tight budget. When I came back to Chicago, I really wanted to pay it forward, so I host people here when I can (I'm a very lazy person after work so it's hard sometimes lol). I also hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for international Couchsurfers and it was a blast! Hoping to make that a tradition.

Interests

I love music and am much more likely to be at a house show than a bar on any given night. I'm also really into comedy, books (my fave is the Hitchhiker's Guide), feminism and social issues, junk food, and animals.

If you stay with me, I'm very happy to hang out, but I'll probably have a pretty full social calendar. So you're likely to meet my friends, take in a Chicago comedy show (which honestly should be on your to-do list anyway), or see a punk show in somebody's living room. I'm also a pro at chilling at home with some wine if that's more your vibe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Idk about "amazing," but I've performed in a really avant-garde haunted house that my friend puts on a few times, including once on Valentine's Day... and I am NOT a performer lol.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company, stupid jokes, long philosophical discussions... I'm also happy to do the dishes or some cleaning as a thank you, and I love to cook!
