I love meeting new people, exploring different kinds of music, walking cities and trails, writing, biking, and eating good food. Back in Chicago (where I was living most recently), I like to spend time with friends, go to music and comedy shows, and chat at my fav language exchange group that meets at a big brewery in my neighborhood.

I've lived in lots of shared housing situations and truly believe getting to know someone over coffee in your own home is something special :)

Especially since I’m traveling alone to places I've never been, couchsurfing feels like a great opportunity to learn about where I am and form new friendships.

Music! For years I hosted radio shows and I’ve always loved learning about places through music & the stories that surround different artists and songs. I’d love to hear recs of local artists you like or good spots to see live shows.

Some favorites of mine: Mereba, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jamila Woods, Flora Matos, Nilüfer Yanya, Big Thief, Smino, Saba (all the Dreamville rappers), Niki and The Dove, Dijon, Sudan Archives, Miya Folick, Bob Dylan, & the Smiths.

I also really like reading anything about the place where I am— history, poetry, memoirs by local authors, etc.

I taught an English class for adults for 4 years when I was living in Maine, USA. We spent most classes sharing about our cultures and debating different philosophical/political topics. So so fun! This was one of my most meaningful experiences, and it’s a big part of what inspired me to find this way to travel internationally.
