About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel as much as possible without going broke
ABOUT ME
I grew up playing in the woods and never really stopped. I love being outside, exploring, going on spontaneous adventures... I never feel more at home than in the middle of some dense, humid forest next to a gurgling stream. Traveling is a passion, and I've spent a year hopping continents, volunteering and discovering. This world trip has done little to sate my appetite for novelty, and I impatiently look forward to my next opportunity to get back out there.
PHILOSOPHY
I'd like to think I'm a pretty dynamic person; my interests, opinions, and perspectives are constantly changing. So I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm addicted to traveling - it's the best opportunity to challenge all of the above. Like every couchsurfer, it's a given that I love meeting new people. I feel like you can learn a little from almost everyone you've encountered in your life, even if it was a short encounter; all of these lessons and perspectives that stick with you can help create "you." And since I have no idea who that is, I'd like to think in meeting other people, I am also meeting myself. I don't really think life is about "finding" yourself; its more like creating yourself, exactly how you want to be. If you live under the illusion that a specific way of life is waiting out there for you, the beauty and freedom of being able to choose and create is lost.
So I've found that spontaneity and gut-feelings tend to bring a lot of good luck. Some of the best times of my life were done on a complete whim. I love the "fly by the seat of your pants" mindset... Whether or not things are meant to happen for a reason, I feel that generally things work out. And perhaps it's a path that is far superior to what you expected, despite how it may seem in the moment.
Just be brave, get out there, trust yourself, and experience what the world has to offer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Honestly I haven't had the opportunity thus far to surf or host - most of my traveling accommodation has been hostels, airbnb, or homestays. But I can't wait to meet some of the couchesurfer hosts out there in California!
Interests
Every living creature is adorable. (Fine, except mosquitos). Skydiving is underwhelming. I love to play music but songwriting is beyond me - those who create songs are magicians. Show me a trail and i'll hike it. I have a cockatoo that regularly bites me but I love him more than most humans. Renewable energy is an unstoppable force and the sooner we all hop on the train the easier it will be.
