About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My friend Kendall and I are traveling to discover new places, people, and try new things, while having a good time doing so.
ABOUT ME
My friend and I are on a journey for a year, who knows maybe more if we can do that. We both enjoy traveling and didn't feel particularly pulled towards the "typical" conventional way of life that so many others our age have started...college, job, marriage, kids, and years later you realize that this is just a big rat race. We want to live, travel, see all that can be seen, learn as much as we can from others, and just grow so that we can give back to those whose path's we cross. I'm a nice person, I try to follow the motto, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." Kendall doesn't follow a motto, she is just a very sweet, upbeat girl. We have known each other since elementary/primary school. And we are very excited about life and traveling to different countries, meeting new people, and connecting with as many beautiful souls as possible. We both have pets and look forward to meeting any pets our hosts may have. :)
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is quiet similar to that of Spoc's, "Live long, and prosper." hahaha :D "Do things that make you happy." "Treat others as you want to be treated." Kendall lives life trying to spread happiness, smiles, laughter, and love. She wants to bring sunshine to the places and people who are hidden behind the shadows that life can bring on us all. She also believes in treating others how one wants to be treated. She believes that all cultures are incredibly beautiful and enjoys learning about other cultures and customs. We are both open-minded people and are accepting of others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am easy going, and go with the flow. When it comes to games, I can get quite competitive, but am always a good sport. I go through life as happily as I can; I use sarcasm whenever I can. haha :D This question is a bit open-ended, but Kendall is a fun-loving girl. When there is an argument or fight going on, she tends to be the mediator; she always tries to keep the peace and a positive atmosphere.
Interests
I enjoy horse back riding, it is by far one of my favorite things to do in the whole wide world. The freedom I feel from riding and the pride I feel in myself for working as one with the horse is pretty incredible. Traveling and seeing new environments is very exciting to me. Kendall enjoys meeting new people and listening to their stories and experiences. She says traveling is addictive because it allows her to meet so many different people and hear many different languages (she is VERY interested in watching Korean dramas, is trying to learn Korean, and she could just sit in a room filled with people speaking languages she doesn't understand because to her every language is music that she gets excited to hear). Anything involving stories (reading, writing, listening, watching) has her attention. We both enjoy being outside, whether kayaking, hiking, or walking the dogs, being outside is one of the best things in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Hannah enjoys all kinds of movies and music. She is not much of a reader, but she does enjoy fantasy stories like Harry Potter and Eragon. Kendall likes most music, but doesn't enjoy screaming music. As for movies these are some of her favorite: Remember the Titans, Sweet Home Alabama, Lion King, Mulan, Prestige, Sahara, Braveheart, Patriot, the Office and Peep Show are funny shows. Books she likes: Any book by Louisa May Alcott like An Old Fashion Girl, Eight Cousins, Rose in Bloom, fantasy fiction like the series The Guardian King Series, she likes historical fiction a lot...she enjoys reading a LOT and looks forward to discovering new books..and movies too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done wildlife research in Guyana (in the Guyanese Rainforest) and South Africa. We both did the Inca Trail for Macchu Picchu, climbed the Eiffel Tower. Kendall has walked in the canopy of trees in the Amazon rainforest, gone down the Amazon, and enjoyed Brazil. We both have seen parts of Turkey and Greece, which we loved. Kendall has seen two births and really enjoyed being a part of the mother's experiences. We have been to Peru and fell in love with the country, particularly the areas we stayed for a long time like cusco and Chahaures (a very remote town). Hannah found a lot of species of salamanders in Pennsylvania.
Teach, Learn, Share
We love this idea of teach, learn, and share- it reflects the main reason we travel. :) To teach we can inform people on the process cacao goes through before we eat chocolate (we worked on a farm in Peru that had a LOT of cacao trees). Hannah has a plethora of knowledge regarding wildlife and the environment from her studies at university. And as conversations twist and turn, i'm sure more teachable topics will arise.
Learn: Languages, traveling tips, traveling dos and don'ts, experiences worth having, about healthy life-styles, anything regarding gardening, wonderful places to visit and maybe connect to other people to make lasting friendships.
Sharing: hitchhiking isn't terrible, but a cheap way to travel and a great way to meet locals. What to do and not do as a tourist in Cusco and Machu Picchu. We can share our experiences from woofing in Peru and Argentina.
