About Me

ABOUT ME

Writing about myself like this is probably not my strongest point, but I'll give it a try! Whenever people ask me where I'm from, I find it very difficult to answer. I read this quote once which really spoke to me. It goes something like this:

"I will never be completely home again because part of my heart will always be elsewhere. But that's the price I'm willing to pay for the richness of loving and knowing people and places in more than one place. "

I'm Dutch, born in the Netherlands from Dutch parents. In 2008 my family moved to Sweden where I spent the next 6 years going to highschool. June 2014 I moved to Ireland to work on a horseracing yard for a year and now I just finished my three year bachelor's in psychology in Galway, Ireland. So I'm not entirely sure what to answer when I'm asked where I'm from!

Anyway, my heart lies with travelling and I think it is important in many different ways

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The vast majority of my CS experience comes from a Europe trip by car with my best friend during the summer of 2017. We did a mix of campings, hostels and CS, but the best experiences were definitely related to CS!

Interests

Most of all I'd say that I am a outdoor-lover. Please add some adrenaline and I'm happy! Also I am a true horse/ farm girl, and even though I am not living on a farm or dealing with horses right now, I will always find ways to escape to horses. So instead of horses I turned to hiking to not neglect my cravings for the outdoor. Galway city, my newest "home", is very conveniently close to Connemara and I have the possibility to go on weekly hikes. I also do climbing, mostly indoors for the moment but outdoors whenever I get the chance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books, and it's hard to name a favorite! But here come some books I really like: breakfast at Tiffany's, Sara's key, Jojo Moyes books, Khaled Hosseini, Mornings in Jenin, Shantaram..

I like lot's of different music at different times, but Mumford and sons have been a favorite for a while. I also like Hozier, Alt-J, Bon Iver, Stomoway, Royal Blood, Rise Against, George Ezra, Matt Corby and so on. Well Indie music in general is nice, and genre of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Training race-horses for a whole season... Wow!! Also all of the higher summits I have done in Sweden, Norway, and Ireland. Norway is absolutely stunning! And the hike in Donnegal in Ireland. Oh and my trip to Slovenia! Oh and.. Oh gosh please don't ask me to mention one thing, that's like having to choose between two of your favourite foods, if not worse..

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can teach you is entirely up to you! I can share my stories with you and hopefully there is something in them which will help you in some way. And if not well that's ok too, I just hope they entertained! I am very willing to learn though, extremely open minded so I'd love to hear your view on things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good spirit, travel stories and and insight into the culture off the three different countries I have lived in.
