About Me

Hello! I'm a 25 year old Californian living in France with my Swedish husband.

I currently work as a freelance travel writer & photographer, while my husband works with computers. We've been living in France for about 2 years now, and will be moving to my home state of California in early 2017.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to take advantage of our last year in France by traveling around Europe, but we also need to save money for the international move next year, so couch surfing seems like the perfect solution. If I can help others to realize their travel dreams (on a budget), then I'll feel happy.

Interests

I'm very into flowers, gardens, photography, food and walking. My preferred method of seeing a new place is to simply walk around and take photographs of the streets and architecture. I also LOVE to try different foods from places, although I'm not extremely adventurous (I won't eat insects, for instance).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love lots of different types of music. Artists like Disclosure and Flume, indie pop-rock like Vampire Weekend and folksy stuff like Fleet Foxes, but also classical and 1950s Jazz.

One of my favorite films is Spirited Away. My favorite (and in my opinion, best) Romantic Comedy is When Harry Met Sally. I also love period films like Pride & Prejudice, as well as movies like Enchanted April. I'm a romantic at heart, even though I don't always like to admit it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was able to spend a week in a Parisian apartment that had a really close-up view of the Eiffel Tower. Seeing it sparkle every night while drinking wine is something I'll never forget.

I'll also never forget my first real travel experience to Costa Rica, as well as my first time living abroad alone, in Paris as a student.

I wouldn't call myself a thrill-seeker, and I'm definitely not into extreme sports. But I get so much out of just quietly experiencing the sights and tastes of a new place.
