About Me
Hello, my name is Hanneke. I'm 24 years old and I am a student at the Hogeschool Utrecht. I'm studying to become a primary teacher.
This is my last year and I hope to be finished at the end of 2017. After that I plan to travel around Europe and visit all sorts of schools in Scandinavia, Greece and Italy (maybe more). I also want to see more of the world with my boyfriend Ami, such as Thailand and Indonesia (the country where my grandfather was frome) We love to get to know new cultures and new people and can dance salsa and bachata for hours. We're positive thinkers and we're creative.
If you have any questions about me (or my boyfriend Amitaba) don't hesitate to ask! :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I'm almost finished studying, I like to see a lot more of Europe (and the rest of the world). I like meeting new people and learning about other cultures and languages and I think couchsurfing brings all those aspects together 😊

Music, Movies, and Books
I love listening to all kinds of music. It also depends on my mood. I have seen a lot of movies and I'm planning on seeing a lot more! I have 'pathe unlimited' and can watch all the movies in pathé cinema's in the Netherlands for a small amount each month. :-)
I really like reading and getting 'lost' in someone else's story, but I don't do it as much as I would like to because studying and salsa takes a lot of my time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I haven't traveled that much, but in May 2015 I went to South Africa. It was my first time outside Europe and I've had so much fun; seeing the penguins in Capetown (we were planning on going abseiling of Table Mountain but unfortunately we couldn't because of the rain), seeing a lot of wild animals in Krugerpark and going horseback riding and walking (ánd cuddle) with lions in Horseback Africa, which was such a nice and welcoming place to stay!
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to learn a lot about other cultures and languages. I like learning the differences but also the parts that are the same. I'm very interested in the school systems of other countries and I like to learn your thoughts about it.
In exchange I'll give you my knowledge and thoughts about education and all kind of subjects :-). And I like to teach you a bit of our strange language; Dutch :-)
I am vegan for almost 2 years now and I can share a lot of delicious vegan receipts where you won't even miss animal products :-) I don't judge people who do eat meat or other animal products. I think everyone should do and eat what they feel is right, but if you want to know more; don't hesitate to ask!
What I Can Share with Hosts
At the moment I live with my parents, so unfortunately it's not really an option to let a lot of surfers stay at my house. But if you're really in need, I'm sure I can make an exception and let you sleep on our couch. It's really comfortable; I fell asleep on it several times. We do have two really nice dogs, who we adopted from Spain (Cadiz).
When I do host you, I can teach you a bit of Dutch and I can show you some Dutch receipts like 'pannenkoeken'. We can go for a walk in the neighbourhood or I can tell you about fun things to do in Utrecht and how to travel to Utrecht (between 20 and 30 minutes by tram or bus)
