About Me

I'm an American-Gibraltarian student currently travelling in Latin America on my gap year. I grew up in the UK and Spain, and so speak fluent Spanish.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get a better experience from my travels, I don't want to stay in hostels with other foreign travellers- I want to dive into each place I visit headfirst! I want to be a participant and not just an observor- I'm travelling to live a little life in every country I visit, and the best way to do that is meet as many people as I can who are willing to share their lives and their homes with me for a short while. I can't wait to meet you!

Interests

I am passionate about seeing new places, meeting new people, discovering new experiences and trying new food!
I enjoy most sports but especially cycling, tennis, swimming, skiing (aquatic and snow), horse riding and walking.
I also love music of all shapes and forms- I play piano, violin and a little guitar; I'm constantly discovering exciting new bands to listen to; and I adore live music- especially the kind you can dance to!
Nothing stimulates me more than a long and fascinating discussion with an interesting person about anything new I can learn about- I love learning new things about the wonderful and chaotic world we live in!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many to pick just one!
I've stayed awake all night lying on a dock to watch the Perseids meteor shower
I've skinny dipped under the moon in glacial waters
I hiked up a mountain to visit a tiny pueblo in the high mountains of Bolivia and eaten Guinea pig (at 6 years old)
I've seen identical Romanian twin sisters perform a piano recital of duets in Bucharest
I've seen Count Dracula's Castle in Braşov, and walked through the ruins of the Court of the actual historical Romanian prince (Vlad Dracul Tepeş) in Târgovişte
I've visited the thermal baths and ruined bars in Budapest

I'm always looking for new things to add to this list!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a languages enthusiast, and love to share my languages with others- aside from my English and Spanish, I also speak fluent French, Italian and have conversational German and Russian. I am utterly fascinated by the histories of languages and how they work.
I love to cook and try new foods, and I especially enjoy sharing recipes and dishes with other people.
I am fascinated by culture and sociology, and really enjoy learning about cultural history, traditions and philosophies

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a passionate, friendly, and lively person to host- I am fascinated by everything new I experience and all the new people I meet, and I'm cheerful and full of life, love and intelligent conversation.
Also, I'm a great cook and I'd love to cook you something delicious or learn a new recipe
