About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Oslo welcomes you, the spontaneous and adventurous traveler!
ABOUT ME
Welcome to Oslo! Bardzo mi miło! Bienvenidos! Esiet sveikinti! Wonder what to do in Oslo? Go to Frognerparken. The sculptures are awesome. I am an imperfect Norwegian guy with a playful soul. I'm in fact so imperfect that I prefer to host only fun people. Prefer surfers who are keen on doing stuff together parts of the time. Like going out, dancing, going to exhibitions, park barbecue, beachwalking, do a bit of snowballfighting, doing whatever was the most fun thing you ever did in your life. This is not mandatory reading, but as many of you have commented - my name Øyvind does indeed look funny. It means 'turned towards happiness'. So greetings to Mam & Pap for bringing happiness to me.
Enough about me. I'm more curious about who you are :)
PHILOSOPHY
As a host it is important to give some insight about your own city. To be welcoming and respectful. A creator of comfort. To bring up interesting topics of conversation. But most importantly - to make the party.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am here to make new friends.
I should add that since women love taking pictures I sometimes let them borrow my camera with that nice portrait lense,
and then they take hundereds of pics of their more than willingly posing travel friends. Can be a lot of fun.
My goal is to one day surf on a couch like the strawberry ice-creamy one under here? So let me know if you have one.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
With Couchsurfing you get to know the local culture from a quite different perspective. It is one of the reasons why couchsurfing can be better than staying at 7-star hotels in Dubai.
Interests
Sports - like football, skiing and working out
Music - I like snapping to the rythm of the beat sometimes
Reading - I love reading instructional literature to improve my skills in different areas.
Dancing - a great leisure activity
Traveling - so many places are still undiscovered
Environmentalism - it's vital to care
Photography - capture the moment
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like Røyksopp, Coldplay, Russian pop-music, trance, Nirvana, Red Hot Chilipeppers, Depeche Mode, Moses Murray, Enigma and many more.
Movies: Pulp Fiction, Blood Diamond, The inconvenient Truth, The 11th hour, by Leonardo diCaprio. A great movie about the convergence of environmental crisis happening as we are traveling and having fun.
Books: Tolstoy, Hamsund, Harry Potter, and the Four hour workweek, by Timothy Ferris. He explains how he gets time to travel and enjoy life, and still make a good salary
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Diving from the sky is an amazing thing. That's why I only did it twice.
Be cautious about taking it one step further however:
Click to see delirious wingsuit flights in Norway!
It was pretty nervewrecking for me to join in a Norwegian Dance Championship only two months after my basic class with a 17 year old Lithuanian student from that same class. My mother filmed some of it... I'll only show you the video in case you make a special request for it. And this is something nobody has done so far - I guess it's only the supercoolest of the supercool who do this.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've seen a youtube course in singing, and I will be happy to share my experiences with anybody who is interested.
My other hobbies, like photography, dancing... of course, it is always interesting to talk about ones hobbies. So ask me about anything, anything at all, don't be shy :)
As you let your own light shine, you allow others to let theirs shine too. So keep shining.
