Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to go places, meet people, and hopefully make our planet a little happier.
ABOUT ME
I (Jen) am self employed artist. I seem to be busy creating art and running a farm. I raise non-GMO organic chicken eggs, dairy goats, Livestock Guardian dogs (Colorado Mountain Dogs), and peacocks, as well as create oil paintings. My mornings are full working outside, milking goats and caring for the other animals, and then I’m in the studio for the second half of the day. We are in the process of rehabilitating a neglected piece of land, some 100+ year old structures, and allowing some wild lands to recover.
My husband (Kelly) works out of state most of the time. When he’s home, he helps out with everything.
PHILOSOPHY
Live simply and fully all while caring for the earth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
First of all, we prefer to host Couchsurfers who are active hosts themselves. Please be a host before expecting to be hosted. Thank you for understanding.
My husband and I like to meet people from around the country and the world. When the timing works for us, and we are not traveling ourselves, we will open up our guest room to folks traveling through.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In our previous home we hosted many people traveling through for various reasons. We live in a rural area with small towns, and meeting new people doesn't happen often enough. CS brings new folks into our world, we always learn something new and it makes our own world a little bigger.
Interests
Jen: Farming, fiddle playing, bird watching, painting, and regenerating the land.
Kel: Climbing to the tops of mountains, reusing old stuff to make new stuff, fishing and meeting new people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a couple of years of my childhood in Corbeil-Essonne France, climbing the hills of grains waiting for the barges along the Seine River. When we emptied our shoes before entering the house, the grains next to the door grew into a garden of wheat.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a dairy goat farmer, so I have extensive experience with the workings of a small dairy. I’m happy to teach someone what I know…Milk, cheese, yogurt making, goat care etc.
I raise and train Livestock Guarding dogs. About every 4-5 years we have a litter of Great Pyrenees pups and are working within the breeding program of the Colorado Mountain Dog.
