CURRENT MISSION
to gaze upon the chimes of freedom flashing
ABOUT ME
i am staying in Edinburgh till 23 January. my stepfather has been living here the last ~4 months and i am eager to discover some other parts of the city, preferably among more people my own age. i'm interested in where different subcultures hang out, what's going on in new / alternative economic circles (timebanking, CS, mealsharing...), and basically any group of people who have a living sense of their own culture. I am an artist and a climate activist with interests in urban agriculture, DIY/hacker culture, social justice, all languages, street photography, street theater, music, dance, animals, anthropology, and just about any stories you'd like to tell. I'm from the USA but not super proud of it -- it's complicated, we can talk about it if you like.
Currently staying in Stockbridge.
Interested in exploring other corners: secret passageways, spiderwebs, choirs, pubs, DIY pubs, house parties, shared meals...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i'm quite a good improvisational cook, don't mind cleaning up, also love singing, dancing, writing, photographing, recording sounds. i'm a good talker but traveling is good practice for being a better listener.
also: acro yoga. i can turn you upside down if you're interested!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
my only personal experience with this site was a brief stint in a flat in Madrid with a really wonderful student from Chile -- I had a great time. But i've had pretty extensive experience with the WWOOF network across spain, and have hosted impromptu travelers in Chicago. I am like a chameleon, I adapt to whoever i'm around, but I particularly love being around people i really happen to jive with ... then i open up quickly and am more willing to share.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: anything that has hints of the smaller, less viral cultures of the world, i.e. any folk culture, African diaspora, beats that are spread by something other than war drums / colonization.
You know what? let's just talk about this.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
rode in the stairway of a 30-hour bus to timbuktu, surrounded by watermelons. long story, but a good one.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm making a sound-collage of the stories, music, and other sounds i encounter on my travels. Please be a part of it! I can interview you, record you, record us, or some combination / surprise me:)
I would love to learn any songs you know that require more than one voice.
