About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Setting up a bike work shop in Northern Namibia and cycling Southern Africa. The final chapter of my working the world goal, to live and work in every continent of the world before I'm 30
ABOUT ME
My nickname is Hap, most people think it is because I am always Happy, although I was actually given it by my father because as a baby I always cried.
These days the tears have given away to smiles and laughter.
After graduating university in 2003 I left New Zealand on a personal mission to "live and work in every continent of the world before I'm 30"(www.hapworkingtheworld.com). I'm currently in Africa working on my last continent before I turn 30 on the 11/11/11.I'm easy going, relaxed and love to sit around with a beer of glass of wine and have a laugh.
PHILOSOPHY
Do whatever makes you happy and have a laugh along the way. And that good bit of advice that mum gives, treat people how you want to be treated.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The past couple of years I have been pretty inactive as I had been living/travelin with my now ex-girlfriend who did all our couch surfing things. Now we have taken our different paths and I'm in the middle of Africa, best I rev up this couch surfing motor that has been laying idyl.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My now ex girlfriend and I couch surfed in Bariloche back in 2009 while we searched for a host family to live with. Great experience, surfed with Nate and Alissa, nights of good home cooked food, red wine, great conversation and helping each other out.
Interests
I love to be active, in the outdoors, hiking, camping, swimming, just doing something, anything. I love to be around people, I enjoy nothing more than sitting around with a glass of wine relaxing finding out about new people. If you're looking for someone to sit around with and tap away at a play station, I'm the wrong person.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a lot of good music and movies on my hard drive, want to share?
Most types, but I usually listen to more chilled out, Ben Harper type. It sounds cliche, but i love New Zealand music, very distinctive funky dub with bits of reggae with saxaphones etc, great for listening to in the summer or relaxing around an open fire on a couch.
Books, I just finished reading "Shantaram", the biggest book i have read, 1000 pages of greatness, Australian guy escapes prision and goes lives in the Indian slums, and true.
Movies, I have to admit that I'm pretty simple when it comes to movies, feel good movies, English humour, action, favorite movie probably be Shawshank Redemption.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share
A personal favourite quote of mind "regrets over yesterday, and worries about tomorrow are twin thieves that rob you of the moment".
May be able to help you out with future travel plans, destination information, contacts etc. I have a hard drive full of music and movies too!
