Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Haren. I'm half chinese and half indian, effectively making me a Chindian. Before this I was in school and then served 2 years in Singapore's army before being operationally readied as a 3rd Sergeant. Going forward, I plan to finish my degree and start a business of my own while helping out at my parent's firm.
Quite an extrovert, I love meeting new people and enjoy sharing a good laugh or those shivers when I 'click' with someone I've just met. For those of you who are holding up a Myers-Briggs personlity chart, I'm firmly in the ESFP category.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I think immersing myself in the locality of a place means not only staying where the locals stay but also having a chance to be with the locals and knowing how and where to get 'in'. I'm looking to make new friends wherever I go, and will be more than grateful to reciprocate a stay and a tour around town for my fellow CouchSurfers!
Interests
I love travelling (sometimes to cities but normally to the countryside), spending time outdoors and nature, mountain biking, driving and motorcycling too. I love animals, dogs, cats, whatever! I enjoy dancing too, whether it's at the club or at Salsa social. I'm have my tech-geek moments too... do beware of that!
Lately I've taken up a little bit of Muay Thai and restarted my golfing career - however, the only sport I watch on TV is cricket (on occasion i.e. World Cup, T20).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading a good thriller, spy, detective or war story, watching a good drama (occasionally) or an action movie. Maybe even a a chick flick once in a while!
I love listening to electronic music, house, indie pop and rock, and trance.. EDM gets me dancing but deeper tunes get my into another state of mind...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think my time in the Army was an amazing experience - starting off as a recruit for 2 months before being bumped up in ranks as I advanced through my 2 years. Many soldiers don't appreciate or try to make full use of their time in NS - I was one of the lucky ones who felt these two years helped me mature as person and helped me become stronger in character.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach : A little beatboxing? A few Salsa steps or a little Tektonik?
Share: What it's like to live in Singapore or India, and how it feels like to be a person who can't exactly call anywhere "home".
What I Can Share with Hosts
At home, I have all my things strewn around my room, but on holiday or visiting others, I tend to be more organised (especially as i pack pretty light) and although I make a lousy cook (thus, not a very fussy eater), I will be happy to help with the washing or preparation and housekeeping ( yup, used to work in a hotel during my school days). I have been known to make myself at home almost anywhere.
I can share one helluva background story when you get to meet me, that in itself is probably enough to talk about for an evening. Depends on what interests you, really. I can talk about anything. I do have much of a sweet tooth too and do let me know if you'd like anything on my way in from Singapore!
