Hey, I'm Harish! I'm a grad student at Northeastern University, Boston. I am originally from Chennai, India and I spent most of my childhood, 18 years to be precise, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

I am currently on co-op/internship in the Bay Area, until July 2018 and I spend my weekends exploring the Bay Area's beautiful trails or just fly out on an impromptu trip.

My dad is secretly fond of traveling and he makes sure to take the entire family along wherever he wants to go. Safe to say, the travel bug hit me too and we've visited 16 countries across NA, EU, and Asia, over the last 8 years. :)

Considering that my friends are spread all over the place, I find myself traveling solo to most places. I've personally visited over 10 states and counting. My goal is to visit six new states in six months and I'm already two down!

My friends consider me a very outgoing person, with the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything, the eyjafjallajokull glacier in Iceland to why I believe Madras's filter coffee beats a Double Shot Espresso anyday!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and exchange interesting stories about each other. Mostly traveling solo, I realize the importance that traveling with the company makes it a lot more fun, not to mention gets you out of the comfort zone and push yourself to try something you wouldn't otherwise do if you traveled alone. The more people, the merrier.

Couchsurfing, I believe will allow me to travel and visit a place like a true local without all the bells and whistles. I've heard stories from friends who couchsurfed with a bunch of people in Norway and they got to see the Northern Lights from a spot which most tourists won't know. I've also read stories where someone's perception of city/state/country changed for the better after they stayed at a host's home learning more about their life in that city. I yearn for experiences like that. And I'm positive I can find them here on CS.
