About Me
Hello my name is Harith, I'm Singaporean and I've lived in Singapore my entire life. I graduated from University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2017 and started to work as a mechanical engineer for the oil and gas industry. The life as a working adult is definitely different, as compared to when we were all studying 😅. I hate school but I lust for knowledge because at this age, I feel old but not very wise. A quote from the song perfect strangers that I hope to live by; "Who knows the secret tomorrow will hold ? We don't really need to know". It doesn't matter how tomorrow will turn out, life is unpredictable and I am learning to be grateful for everything that happens to me. So, the quintessence of my life is to just live in this moment
Thank you for viewing my profile and if you have any questions about Singapore, please drop me a mesage. I'll be glad to help. For travellers who come to visit Singapore, I really want you to enjoy your stay here admiring the sights and experiencing the local activities, all that while enjoying the wide variety of delicious food. My knowledge about Singapore might not be the best, but I'll do my best to provide the best advice
I'm sorry, i am unable to host guests at this moment. However, if you're finding a friend to accompany you on your adventures here in this beautiful country, you can count me in (most of the time) haha

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
From reading travel blogs and journals, I realise that when you see things from the perspective of a local person, it gives you a sense of belonging and much more fulfilling experience. I truly believe that we need to understand one another's culture and really appreciate it, for us to have a much deeper connection. Couchsurfing lets you do that. And its nice to have friends from different corners of the world
I coincidentally couchsurfed in my friend Sam's apartment while I was visiting Australia. I had contacted him for a meet-up and at the same time, asked him which location was good to stay at for convenience of sightseeing and attractions. He replied with, "Hey you're staying at my place". I was offered the couch in his apartment and it was a new experience for me, in a good way. I really enjoyed my stay and he brought me to places that really amazes me. Even when he had classes during the day, he recommended me places that he thought would capture my interest
I'm always grateful for kind hospitality from everyone that I've met through this app and one day, I would like to own an apartment and return the favour of hosting visitors coming to Singapore
Interests
I really like postcards, its a way of saying "I thought of you". People who send postcards are the bestest
I love to walk and/or hike. In Singapore, my favourite hiking trip is the Macritchie reservoir walking trail. There is a place called "Treetop", it is a place where I'll feel so connected to the nature and wildlife

Teach, Learn, Share
TEACH:
•I can teach simple origami (Paper crane, pikachu! etc.) yayy
•I can teach you how to crab (It's like fishing, but crabs) with a beautiful view of the sea
•I can teach you how to order kopi/teh (coffee/tea) like a pro in the local coffeshop haha
•The mysterious language, Singlish
LEARN:
•Snowboarding. I did learn how to skate when i was younger but I think that snowboarding is a totally different sport. And I have never seen snow in my life so that will be something that I look forward to
•I am very interested to learn Mandarin Chinese because it is my dream to one day travel across China. Also, the Chinese language is widely used in Singapore, I'd like to converse with my friends in that language. Japanese is also a language that I'm very interested to learn. I've made some friends through an exchange program during my undergrad, and I'm ashamed to say that every time I visit them in Japan, i couldn't converse in Japanese.
What I Can Share with Hosts
•Helping out with house chores / buying groceries (Sorry I can't cook)
•A listening ear
•A gift from my country
