About Me

Hi, I'm Harol Martínez, I'm physicist, I can say I'm a scientist. I just finished my master in materials science and engineering. I'm kind of exhausted from being a lab rat beacuase I think that to a certain extent I am depriving myself of living.

I greatly appreciate the interactions with other people and even more so when they have a different culture and interests than mine. This allows me to get to know other perspectives of life and open myself to new opportunities that may arise. From my scientific experience I can highlight that I have skills to work under pressure and I also learn autonomously.

To finish, I love: cooking, doing ecotourism, meeting people, sharing with people, visiting conventional and exotic places, learning about different things that contribute to my development as a person, and of course; As a Latin American, I really love dancing to rhythms like salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton and bachata.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because my sense of freedom has inspired me to step out of my comfort zone to make the decision to become a traveler where my adventurous spirit brings out my appreciation for community work. I am willing to learn about the different aspects that any culture can offer me, as well as to learn and perform in the best way in any task that each volunteer imposes on me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In April 2017, about to turn twenty, I made the decision to travel to the Tatacoa Desert, Huila, Colombia. I did this adventure completely alone; I drove my motorcycle for 9 hours from my house to the destination. There I camped and explored the desert as well as surrounding places, stripping myself of many fears and filling myself with courage since in this experience I did not have the company of anyone. It was quite enriching to have made the decision to go completely alone.
