Overview
About Me
I'm an Australian classical guitarists, currently based in Germany. I work at the Stuttgart music school and conduct a Mandolin ensemble in Grauelsbaum, when I'm not giving concerts with my beautiful wife, as the Duo Amythis.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I sometimes need a place to stay when I'm traveling, and I prefer the idea of meeting great people to being anonymous in a hotel room.
Interests
Music of course, books of all sorts, but particularly anything that challenges me, I like the noire genre, I listen to a lot of podcasts, particular science and new music stations, I like to travel, and I prefer to get off the beaten track rather than stick to big cities. I like walking a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like English author China Miéville at the moment, and Richard Hudson on music. I enjoyed Thinking Fast and Slow as well (Kahneman). Tarantino is terrific, though I seem to be the only person I know who enjoyed the Hateful Eight. I loved the first season of True Detectives, I haven't started the second yet. I never got through the second season of Breaking Bad because I got bored, though people tell me it's worth the effort. I used to enjoy anime, particularly Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, though I don't really have time for it these days. I love Haydn's at the moment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Played the Concerto de Aranjuez with the CSO on the lawn of Government House (Canberra) to 6000 people. What a rush!
What I Can Share with Hosts
