About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to be happy... isn't that everyones mission?
ABOUT ME
We're a couple living in Leuven. Two real history freaks who love exploring the history of our town and the places we visit. Not much of club persons, we prefer sitting in a nice pub with some good company and good beer.
PHILOSOPHY
Someone old and wise once told me that you should always live your life with the question you ask yourself just before you die: "Have I lived my life the way I want? Can I go now with no regrets?". I want to try most things once, but only things that do not harm me. That includes people too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Giving some weary travellers a warm welcome to Leuven, Belgium...
Our first concern is giving you a safe and comfy place to stay during the night (and a nice breakfast in the morning). The partying, nice chats, a good dinner and whatever more are the fun little extra's that couchsurfing have to offer.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've hosted before. Some experiences were good while others less so. But isn't that life? Some people are great while others have issues with themselves. We just had our first experience as surfers in Québec. Loved it.
Interests
Harold: I dream, I write poems, I cook, I watch movies, I download videos, I read books about other people, I make dinner for my friends, I chat a lot with my brother, I love pyjama parties and I like working out at my gym. Oh yes, and I like taking photos of food that I make.
Steven: So many interests, travelling (well... duh!), history (especially the middle east), music (from modern pop to classical music, from Ella Fitzgerald to U2), being nostalgic about crappy 80's series, vintage stuff, movies, architecture, aviation, reading ...

Music, Movies, and Books
We should really go to the cinema more often (been saying that for years). I enjoy a lot of different types of movies. Some titles? Moulin Rouge, Indiana Jones (the classics!), Ed Wood, South Park, 500 days of Summer, Children of Men, Star Wars, The Incredibles, Titus, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... and on and on and...
As for music, this is the top 15 of my Last.fm playlist: Ella Fitzgerald, John Williams, Frank Sinatra, Danny Elfman, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Prima, U2, Billy May, Coleman Hawkins, Django Reinhardt, Ben Webster, Oscar Peterson, The Police...
Rather eclectic, but I do think you can spot a trend...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For Harold: I ate in a really dirty miner's eatery in Datong city in China with my parents, and I survived it! I also saw the biggest Buddha sculpture there. I climb the snowcapped 5000m Yurong Xueshan mountain in Lijiang, China and felt amazing. I loved the walk along the mountain range in Dali, China. I took a boat ride through the world's largest waterfall in Iguaçu, Brazil. I walked together with Komodo dragons in Flores/Komodo in Indonesia, where I slept on a boat and saw so many stars for the first time in my life. I visited so many temples in Angkor Wat in Cambodia till my eyeballs nearly popped out. I survived the stench of the voodoo market as well as the amazing fish market in Togo. I actually got used to the beggars and excrement in Brussels train stations because of my daily commute to work!
For Steven: crouching on a very narrow slab of rock, with nothing but a very long fall and very sharp rock below me, to reach an old temple near Dali in China. You do feel quite excited afterwards. And also a bit weak in the knees. And seeing Petra. After all my travels still one of the most amazing places I've ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share
Harold can learn you how to cook! I love cooking and would love to learn how to cook your native cuisine. I would love to improve my photography skills. I used to do charcoal drawing when I was a student, would love to have someone teach me again. Apart from that I used to play the piano, harmonica, clarinet, and I sang in a choir from age 16-22.
