About Me
Haroun & Marta
We are a couple of young teachers travelling the world. We currently teach in Bratislava, Slovakia and we try to explore new places when we get time off school. We are very open-minded, happy to learn from everything and everyone. Looking for a host that will be happy to share some stories with us and tell us about what life is like in their home country.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We use Couchsurfing to have a better chance at connecting with locals. We also like staying in hostels and meeting people from all around the world but it gives you less of a chance to talk with someone from that country and learn about their daily life, their traditions, their beliefs.
Interests
Don't play any instruments but love going to concerts, listening to music and attending live music events.
Very ecclectic and love to listen to traditional instruments.
Love all sports, learned self-defense through martial arts and passionate about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Volunteering in an animal rescue centre in Ecuador has been the highlight of my life so far.
We lived in a wooden cabin by the river in the Amazon with no hot water and no internet.
We took care of the animals day and night and cooked food for each other, had extra duties to take care of the centre and also give tours in order to raise awareness about animal trafficking.
Other highlights:
* Horse-riding in the Tatacoa Desert in the south of Colombia.
* Swimming with turtles in Mancora, Colombia.
* Glastonbury Festival
* Volunteering and learning about organic farming on a farm in the Algarve in Portugal
* Swimming in a lake in Mexico while watching an electric storm in the horizon.
* Dia de los muertos in Oaxaca, Mexico
* Meeting all the people we've met along the way!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We would like to share simple things with our host, we don't have any expectations, we are just happy to share some time with someone from a different background, have a conversation and maybe share a meal.
