About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Improve my German! For this half a year in Germany I will have to practice my German more and more.

ABOUT ME

I am out-going, cheerful, out-minded and funny. I was born and raised up in China and studied in Singapore. I was told once that I am not a typical Chinese because I am tall, not conservative and I like adventures. But I think from some aspects, I still keep the traditions and ways of behaving (hopefully only the positive parts :).

I was very lucky and exposed to difference cultures during my study. I found it wonderful to know new people and to know life can be so different in other places in the world. My two dreams are to travel around the world and to have big dogs. My perspective is changing every day with the world but these two dreams never change. I think I have a good progress in realizing these two dreams.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't try, you never know if you will regret.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed in many countries in Europe. Sometimes, I met CSers on the way and then we traveled together for a while. Or sometimes we shared a room together. Wherever I go, the very nice CSers brought me great memories and inspired me by their passion in life and kindness to other people. I was also a host a couple times. It was great that the CSers always brought me new thoughts and sights, and stimulated me for the next trip. It’s a pity that as a student who live in a dorm, most of the time I am not able to offer a couch (because I don’t have one..).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started in 2012 in Europe. I was traveling alone for three weeks and at the first stop I met my first CS host Floris in Rotterdam. He showed me how great it is to share some wonderful experiences, stories, and spirits with others. Due to the super good experiences during the trip, I continued my CS journey in Europe and Singapore as a surfer or host. I enjoy meeting new people and exploring different sides of the world with people with various backgrounds and personalities.

Interests

Travelling! I am interested in every country and every culture. Especially, I want to visit South America and Africa. I like hiking and scuba diving. The feeling of being embraced by the blue connects me with the nature and charges me full power.

In my spare time, I like sports although I am not very good at it. Most often I go swimming and yoga. I used to jog, but then I have to stop because my knees hurt ><. I also love ballroom dancing, but it’s quite difficult for me find a dance partner in Asia due to my height..

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like Chinese pop and light music, and started to like Rock, but not very in to heavy metal.
Movie: No horror or thriller for me, not at all! and I enjoyed all the rest. For the ones who never watched Bollywood movies before, 'Three Idiots' is strongly recommended!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Diving in El Nido with all kinds of tropical oceanic lives! I saw turtles, blue-spotted stingrays, puffer fish, lionfish, spadefish, big lobsters and octopus and cuttlefish…

Watching the clouds on the peak of Yulong Mountain in Sichuan Provence, China. It is more than 5000 meters high. On the highland, it seemed that I could reach the sky!

Backpacking and meeting CSers from everywhere in the world!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Chinese language, cooking (although I am not very good at it) and calligraphy. I have been to a few places in SE Asia and in China, so maybe I can provide some good advice in traveling there. Please feel free to write me a message if you have questions about that. I can also teach linear programming or simulation is you are interested in it hah^^

I really want to learn skiing but I am still a bit scared. However, I will try it one day, regardless of the fear, just like scuba diving. I believe I will love it once I overcome the fear. I’d also love to learn German, because I have a plan to live there in the future.

I’d like to share my stories and experiences in Asia and Europe. It would be great if other CSers can introduce me their culture or traveling experiences or what they find interesting in life.
