Overview
About Me
I’m an introspective extrovert & devout iconoclast. Happy to spend days reading alone or to leap into marathons of bibulous palaver depending on how the day goes, but always most happy of all to paddle upon, plunge into, or ponder upon the periphery of some nearby natural body of water.
I’m really equally content to socialize late late or be autonomously self-contained depending on how the host/guest dynamic seems at a given time and how much the rest of my life tugs at my time..
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is one of the only things that can be accurately described as part of a "sharing economy," It’s rather unlike almost every other service that mangles such a meaning via mendacious marketing and should be cherished.
May Couchsurfing last long and prosper!
Interests
My great hope is that humankind can and will guarantee universal access to healthy rivers, respect the inalienable universal human rights of each person, Yay to restorative/redemptive justice. Boo to retributive cages.
I’m deeply interested in culture, politics, and histories of SE Asia & SW China. I love to wander. And if pressed, I might suggest the following to be true: (self+others)(harm reduction+happiness addition)/(family+friends+loved ones+liked ones)=best life lived

Music, Movies, and Books
Gamelan music, endless podcasts, & an amalgam of PDX post-punk and DC hardcore tend to be on my recent played category.
Slowly slogging through a lot of war/peace films from the point of view of post-Vietnam and post-Coldwar, and wallowing in both Aaron Spelling & Aaron Sorkin.
Reading Julia Kristeva & Breece D’J Pancake.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in the Portland bubble can warp perceptions and politics w/o a breather, but it’s been my central pole for over three decades.
Having access to abundant rivers, slopes, streams, trails, and subcultures makes it possible survive and even to thrive in a daunting time.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can learn & share & teach anything if we do it together.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can make a meal from nearly any ingredients on any budget, try to spend half the time talking and twice the time listening in any conversation, and almost always know how water will behave regardless of form or geography and I will delight in helping you into or across any body of water you want as long as it’s possible for anyone to do safely.
