About Me

MY CURRENT MISSION

Live my life surrounded by whatever my hopes and dreams may be.

ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Harrison, I'm a Uni student who moved to New Zealand from the United States in February 2016. I'm looking to further my travels in the near future, while also helping others see different parts of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Stay curious, and keep asking questions.
Instead of following the crowd, or taking the road less traveled, create your own path, for if you decide to take a road already paved, you're simply reliving somebody else's journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I found out about Couchsurfing through a Ted talk and thoughts he concept of it was awesome.

I'm on Couchsurfing with the intention of hosting great people with the same love for traveling that I equally have. Being a Uni student, I understand how important it is to spend money sparingly, especially when traveling. The least I can do is help people have an amazing traveling experience while spending little money on accommodation .

Interests

I enjoy making new experiences whenever the opportunity comes, and I play a lot of acoustic guitar in my free time.I play various games (video games and sports) and I love making friends and meeting new people!

  • cheese

  • flying

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of acoustic music while also listening to house music just the same! John Mayer is one of my favorite artists along with Ed Sheeran.

Some of my favorite movies include Captain Phillips, Inception, and The Theory of Everything! My absolute favorite actor is Leonardo DiCaprio. Also I watched Requiem For A Dream once and (likely) never will again. Good god I'll never forget the scarring that movie did to me.

My all time favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Absolutely amazing book, that caterpillar just couldn't stop eating. Also Ender's Game, 1984, and Cat's Cradle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I independently made the decision to leave my comfort zone in the States and move to New Zealand for three years. That was pretty cool. I also made a graduation speech in front of 5000+ people for my high school in 2014. That took a whole lotta guts to do. Oh and I did the cinnamon challenge with a ladle instead of a spoon. I'd say that's the most important one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have no idea what this part of the profile means so I'll just talk about stuff I can teach and things that'd be cool to learn.

It'd be pretty great to learn about astronomy. My friends and I have deep ass talks pretty spontaneously and it always ends with us somehow talking about space. Like, why the hell do black holes eat everything that comes too close, and where does all of that go? It'd be cool to learn some new languages, too. Could come in handy.

When it comes to what I can teach, there's a variety of options. I can teach you the golden recipe for mac n cheese to make it taste like a million dollars. I can teach you how to perfectly cook chicken without even touching it. I can teach you how to juggle 3 objects for 20 seconds before dropping one. Or I can teach you how to use the google search bar to find tutorials for all of that. I can teach you why scuba divers fall backwards out of the boat, and why one side of the flying geese V formation is sometimes longer than the other side. I can teach you a lot about tennis balls, as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My flat is equally yours as it is mine throughout your stay. Whenever I have free time from Uni, I can take you out and show you different parts of the city and surrounding areas alike! We can visit the tourist spots and hidden gems of Wellington. We can also experience the nightlife if you're keen!
