About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Figuring out how to survive.

ABOUT ME

I'm a little goofy, a little clumsy, occasionally funny (mostly unintentional). I'm also thoughtful, thought-provoking, open, and giving. I had a friend once say to me, "You know, Harry, what's the best thing about you?" "What?" I asked. "You're always open to doing anything." I'm still trying to live up to that lofty compliment.

Oh, and just cause not everything should be positive. I sometimes let my dreams get the best of me, get defensive about them when confronted, and have a habit of getting wrapped up in my head (to the point where those that don't know occasionally take offense to it). I promise it isn't personal and a tap on the shoulder usually snaps me back to ground.

PHILOSOPHY

So it goes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted some people, slept on some couches, not as much as I'd like to, but I'm trying to get much more involved this year.

Interests

Everything! Well okay, maybe not sedimentary rocks (well, if you can make it interesting, then yes). But as for things I pursue--all types of literature (only enter a conversation with me on this if you'd like to have your ear talked off for hours), history (special interest: ancient cultures; my first dream was to be Indiana Jones. I think its still possible), politics (I am pursuing international reporting after all), philosophy (if you're trained in this you get extra points, my knowledge doesn't go much further a college freshman's).

I'm also a huge film fanatic and music lover

Rock climbing (if you come, I may or may not make you take a trip to Brooklyn Boulders), skiing, hiking, sleeping, photography, tomfoolery,

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Indiana Jones, Annie Hall, Bottle Rocket, O' Brother Where Art Thou

Music: Indie, Hip Hop, Jazz (the more chaotic the better), Electro, Rock, etc

Books: Too many to count. Ask in person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A lighting storm at night on the Namib Desert.

An all-night party spent on the Karoo (Afrikaburn).

A free beer and burger cooked up by a cooky Dutch.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and can teach you a thing or two, though if you're experienced, I would love to learn a thing or two from you.

If you speak Chinese, Arabic, or Spanish, I'd love for you to teach me.

I'm a pretty good photographer and can show you the ropes of that. Also, if you're having trouble with any piece of literature, I could help illuminate some readings of it (provided I have read it).

Also, if someone could teach me how to tie knots, it would be appreciated. I'm beginning to think this is a more useful skill than I gave it credit for.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Namibia, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden
