Overview
About Me
I am twenty-six year old- former monk traveling in the U.S. I finished three years of rigorous intensive Zen monastic training about three months ago- in October of 2016. Now I am looking for work- primarily as an outdoor and experiential education instructor and mentor for young people.
I love art and music- two things I did very passionately in my teens. I have bachelors degree from a liberal arts school that gave me the opportunity to see much of South America and people from very different walks of life.
I recently have been working of recording an album with a good friend. I love to sing and play all sorts of instruments. I am good company, clean, thoughtful and generous.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because travel is something I greatly value- as is meeting new people with different perspectives. I think it is fantastic that something like this exists and facilitates people getting to meet other people and find places to stay- one of the most difficult and costly aspects of travel. It is fun to travel to places where I have friends- but with Couchsurfing, it looks I can go anywhere and make new ones.
Music, Movies, and Books
All sorts- I like indi music, folk music- I like Stevie Nicks, Grizzly Bear, Bjork. I'm not too well read- I think my favorite book is "Everything is Illuminated" by Jonathan Saffron Foer. A movie I have recently watched and was blown away by is called "Life is Beautiful." I love Wes Anderson films too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived with, worked with and befriended an indigenous family in the Peruvian Andes for two weeks potato farming.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach meditation, karate, guitar- you name it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good cook- a thoughtful guest- I can help pay for groceries- and clean! :)
