About Me

I am from Santa Monica, California. I speak English, Spanish, and some Danish. I am now teaching English in Seville, Spain. I am starting a master's degree program in international education in Madrid this September. I will be teaching English in a local public school in Madrid while completing my master's degree.

I met my girlfriend Mica when I was living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We moved to Seville, Spain together last summer and now we are moving to Madrid in a few days. We are now traveling around Europe for the summer. We are a travel couple and we have started to share more and more photos, videos, stories about our travel adventures around the world. We share a lot of creative content, photos, travel videos on our instagram pages @harrisonwills1984 and Mica's is @micabenitezz

I lived lived, studied/worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Barcelona, Spain, Copenhagen, Denmark, and in several U.S. States. My studies focused on international relations and climate change. I studied renewable energy and environmental policy in Copenhagen, Denmark for 5-6 months and spent the summer backpacking around Europe + a fascinating trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

A few years back I took part in an environmental field studies program called "Semester in the West." It was a completely life changing adventure where we were exposed to opposing viewpoints as we grappled with complicated environmental issues in the American West and along the U.S. Mexico border. I love discussing environmental issues and I absolutely love to travel and meet new people. I enjoy soccer, surfing, dancing, traveling, bicycle adventures, hiking, kick boxing, rock climbing/bouldering, live music, horseback riding and finding cool thrift shops!

I previously ran a small green business making/selling organic mattresses and worked part time on a small ranch.

I am interested in making new friends, sharing travel experiences, learning about different cultures, sharing ideas, and getting out to explore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe in building bridges not walls. The golden rule of treating others as you would want to be treated should not be a radical idea, but rather a basic tenant of living a life with respect, dignity, honor, and love.

I strive to never stop learning as I travel. I've never been happier than when I am traveling and meeting new people and learning about other cultures. I have found in life that one of the quickest ways to break down social and cultural barriers is with openness, humility, respect, and active listening. Also, sharing a nice cold beer never hurt:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was student body President at my college. We worked hard to promote affordable education and equal opportunity so that every student could reach their fullest potentials. Together our student union established a student subsidized healthcare/eye care via a program called glasses for classes, free public transportation passes, affordable textbooks, and longer library hours.
