About Me
Hey.
I'm Harry, a 23 year old Australian just out of university. I'm still terrified at the idea of a real job so I I've spent the last year working menial unsatisfying jobs and as little time in Australia as possible. Currently gone for as long as possible, travelling overland through China, Mongolia and Russia on my way to Europe, and then who knows.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I guess it's terribly cliche to say "to meet new people" so I guess I'll extend that to "new interesting, exciting individuals to learn from and to be inspired by" and vice versa.
I don't mind hostels, but I do feel like I don't get the full experience of a town or city from them. great for meeting other people however in a lot of countries ive found chances are most would be like you and have no idea about anything happening inside the city you are in other than the tourist bars or the sights.
One of the best nights I've had on my trip so far was when I was on my own and stumbled upon a creative event in Kuala Lumpar in a gallery space sponsored by the Polish Council. It was fantastic and if it wasn't for a couple of friendly locals I never would have even found the building it was in!
Interests
I studied art for 4 years at university but barely scraped through as I was a little ratbag at the time and spent most of my youth as a "graffiti artist".
With that behind me, I am now concentrating on being a fine artist. I draw, paint and recently got into printmaking, etching and lino printing.
I might go back to university to study art again but I think I would be more interested in an art theory degree.
I read a lot. At least a book a week. Normally I read a novel and an art related book a week but I only took my kindle overseas with me so still struggling to download books for free...haha.
I do a fair bit of hiking and would really like to start climbing at some stage. Highest I've been is about 5600m.
I skateboard sporadically but am fairly good (yanking my own chain - but have skated both street and park for over 15 years just in a bit of a lull at the moment)
I also mountain bike back home and used to ride a brakeless fixed gear on the road. Good fun.
I'm obsessed with Google and Wikipedia. Don't know why.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think my definition of amazing might be very different from yours. haha
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to learn another language. Seeing as I only really speak half a language (Australian English) I should really pick up my game.
I love sharing stories. Funny stories. Incriminating stories. I have a head full of them. I hope you do too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully I can make you laugh. It's only thing worth doing in my opinion. there's always something funny about something it's just how you look at it.
