Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn, experience and share as much as possible on this great journey we call life! As a teacher, I am heavily invested in people and languages.
ABOUT ME
I'm a very easy-going individual and always up for a laugh. I never judge a book by it's cover (because you'll always be surprised!), and relish meeting people from all walks of life.
PHILOSOPHY
„Kolik jazyků znáš, tolikrát jsi člověkem.”
("The more languages you know, the more times you‘ve been human.")
Czech proverb
"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."
Nelson Mandela
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Able to help others with languages and artistic pursuits. Also I enjoy good company and will promise the same in return. I am able to host one person per night at the moment, due to being in rented accommodation. As such, I cannot provide a key, but there is a spare bed available! Also, I really enjoy cooking if you wish to exchange recipes.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed with a family in Rome around Easter in 2013.
Stayed with a host in Astrakhan in May 2017.

Music, Movies, and Books
FILM: Generally any European/world Cinema. I like listening to the other languages; whether or not that means reading subtitles (the plot's usually good). Really anything that makes me think/reflect for a while afterwards.
MUSIC: Most stuff from all over the world, but I'm often drawn to the hip-hop of each country (so I can really hear the language for what it is). Ali Farka Touré is a favourite for chilling out to, along with a load of instrumental stuff. I'm constantly trying to find new music, but I'll always come back to my classics from days gone by.
BOOKS: 1984, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, L'étranger and other Camus. I read a lot of non-fiction, with a view to attaining educational divinity (or basically just be able to speak to anyone about anything in a few decades' time).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending three months teaching skateboarding to kids in New York (it wasn't all that glamourous, but looks cool when written down).
Teach, Learn, Share
Cartooning/illustration, cooking and languages. Able to help with English and French, as well as the wonders of Russian and Czech grammars!
