ABOUT ME

No sofa at the moment, folks. Full house and big study makes Harry a poor host.

PHILOSOPHY

I study and hope to aid the environment and the development of the world, to help people understand the world and themselves a little better and live together in a more complete harmony with all things.

My personal Philosophy is found somewhere between Objectivism and Absurdism, if we are nominalising things

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some amazing people through the CS2 Project, through staying with them and made some friends for life. I have met random people throughout the world, in the street, sharing only our subscription to CS2 and a love of the places that we find ourselves together.

Interests

Economics: Sustainable Development, Well-being, Environment. Poetry, Philosophy, Literature. I love music, I have played gutiar with two Jazz bands, many gigs including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I love to laugh and enjoy comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After climbing the Great Wall at JinShanLing (10km) I walked 15 km through the Chinese countryside on my own over frozen rivers and through vilages to SiMaTai, where I stayed at a farmer's house, slept in his bed with his son after his wife prepared dinner for us all. I was then woken at 5am by his smiling 70-something year-old face so I could climb the 16 towers (6km) beneath the largest full moon in 6 years in -10'C to the highest part of the wall; SiMaTai.

The last 4 of the 16 towers are illigal to climb due to many tourist deaths and very hazardous terrain, but after the hardest climb of my life, I had breakfast to the sunrise over the Inner Mongolian plains at SiMaTai and then climbed down only to see two confused French Brothers who had the same idea, but were a little less enthusiastic.
