Présentation
À propos de moi
Part dreamer, part drifter who's quite easy to talk to about anything under the sun. If you have a story, then I have a set of ears and my undivided attention for you. Like everyone on here, I love to travel without the shackles of elaborate planning. Amiright?
I like being tossed outside of my comfort zone to surprise myself with how I might adapt (or panic while consistently remaining in denial), grow and eventually push the frontiers of what I believed possible. In short, adventure is the blood coursing through my veins; the best stories and moments are those I've gathered while traveling.
My friends tell me I'm quite likable and mostly harmless, but you be the judge of that.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
My first experience hosting someone was entirely unexpected. I ended up meeting a young man from Portugal who had mistimed his mostly unplanned arrival in Geneva.
It was late at night and freezing cold outside. The heavily tattooed and pierced dude had no place to stay for the night, so, in spite of various imagined fears of waking up to find him leaning over my bed with a lethally stale baguette or something, I allowed the amiable stranger to stay at my place. Though I had my reservations, I was reminded of something we say in India, "only human beings can help other human beings". I guess it worked out, because here I am..alive.. telling you this tale.
After having couch surfed in Europe with friends from grad school, I thought it was time to expand my circle to include other like-minded people. So, here I am! Namaste
Centres d'intérêt
I enjoy reading, but I'm really good at putting it off, which annoys me. I have the same relationship with my writing. I like to go cycling, climbing, and hiking when I can. I like to sing (let's reserve judgement on how well). I have been cooking food since before I could reach the kitchen counter, but that never stopped me. More than all these, I like to learn about distant cultures, people and their food as I travel and experience the stories of their land first-hand.
A perfect evening for me might be spent cooking, listening to new music, discussing stories or sharing ideas about new projects in life. The day, on the other hand, would be spent on my feet, with a backpack, wandering from place to place.
Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Ah, the (various) responses to this section are several conversations waiting to be had. Let's not ruin it already.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I booked a one-way ticket to Geneva, Switzerland to pursue my Master's with next to no money, and no idea of how or when I might go home next. All I had was a bag full of optimism and determination. Everything that followed changed how I would come to see life, the universe, and everything. The answer wasn't 42..
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I can teach you how to cook Indian food in all its spicy and maddening glory! In exchange, if you'd like to teach me your cuisine, nothing could make me happier.
I would really like to learn and help teach languages to anyone keen on learning through conversation.
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
If I am free, I would be more than happy to show you around my city. I can take you to some of the best places to eat and drink while telling you about the history of my city, or some of the stories that make my life so terribly average.
