About Me

I am born in India and moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 2004 and Adelaide, Australia in 2007 where I have lived ever since. I studied Engineering at University but that was more a path dictated by my parents and I am currently forging my own path and exploring careers that interest me. I graduated in 2020 and did a short stint in consulting after which I switched to FIFO work at an engineering and construction company based out of South Australia. I love the hands-on side of things as well exposure to nature and different people from different backgrounds. I considered buying a house, renting it out and travelling but decided to travel debt free I am backpacking Europe for 6 months and Central and South America for 6 months depending on finances.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking for a more immersive cultural experience and I relish getting to know the people of the cities I am visiting because ironically when you travel you tend to meet travellers from other countries rather than locals. I am keen to get insider local knowledge and meet people from different backgrounds. Couchsurfing is also an inexpensive accommodation method and I am a low maintenance person so works out perfectly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I like everything from Celine Dion to Slipknot and love listening to music from other countries. Hotel California and Imagine John Lennon are some all time beautiful songs. I like most genres of music except perhaps super country music and heavy hardstyle.

Movies
Big movie fan always carry 3 harddrives with me containing 6tb of movies TV shows and nature shows like Blue Planet. Hard to choose a favourite movie used to be The Departed and The Prestige a few years back but now I have seen too many movies and developed a good knowledge base of film making and tend to appreciate different components of any movie. Directors I like include Nolan, Wes Anderson, Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Tarantino, Ridley Scott and more. I like a lot of genres of movies including Disney, Thrillers, Comedies, Action, Sci-Fi, Rom-Coms. I have a soft spot for very mind-bending movies with unpredictable but fleshed out characters and plots! An underrated movie I like is Coherence.

Books
Used to read 7 books a week till the age of 14 mostly teen fiction I am getting back into reading with gusto during my travels and have loaded up my Kindle with a lot of literature. I am trying to get more into non-fiction reading. I love Agatha Christie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit my consulting job and moved out, much to the chagrin of my parents, and changed my mindset to design my life based on my interests and fully take advantage of my 20 to 30 period. My parents have a tough relationship and during the journey I convinced my mother to consider therapy and have worked hard at getting to know her and letting her know me more to form a solid relationship.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic Muay Thai and deep breathing techniques and can tutor children in Maths and Science depending on the syllabus and age I tutored a girl from Year 9 to 12 back home and its something I want to explore as a career path.

I am keen to learn more about the world, my body, my mind, myself and honestly, I love learning from every interaction I have with anything. Academically I am keen to learn Revit 3D modelling software to be able to design a house in the future. I am learning Spanish so I can travel better when I go to South America.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some stories and my boxing gloves and if careful enough I am travelling with a drone that I am willing to let someone use maybe for a cool drone shot of hosts' homes. I have 6TB of movies and shows on my harddrives that I am quite passionate about and would love to share or watch some movies or shows or documentaries together!
