ABOUT ME

I was born in the US but have lived 17 years abroad. It's been fantastic but unfortunately (or not) it's left me with terminal travel lust + I jump at any chance to travel ANYwhere!!
I had the pleasure of serving as a Peace Corps Service in Ukraine ('06-'08) and Namibia ('11-'12).
Traveling is currently on hold while I focus on my energy and professional life.
I will gladly meet up with any traveling coming to DCoon Rapids MN

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couched surfed in quite a few countries. At first I was a little nervous but have found every single experience was ideal-- very warm, friendly ppl who I really enjoyed hanging out with + wished I could stay with a few days longer!

Interests

Personal-- traveling, language, hiking + everything outdoors, the arts, most sports...especially running, animals, hmmm... what else....???

Professional-- development+ aid work in Africa. Improving living conditions for the less fortunate through sustainable development... and opening the eyes of those who are lucky enough to have everything in life except the ability to understand the value of it all.
Expanding a bit into Health and applying to Nursing school to narrow my focus but still want to return to impoverished and disaster struck regions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my experience I have learned that what I feel is amazing isn't always what those I meet think is. To me though, HIKING KILIMANJARO was amazing. I have hiked my entire life but nothing can compare to the awe I felt standing on Africa's summit + watching the sun peek up over the horizon-- it really give one a sense of size.... how little humans really are. It was breathtaking (not just due to altitude!!) but also moved me to tears. FYI: crying with lack of oxygen can prove rather interesting!!
***I think that no matter what else I do in life, that one moment will always be my most favorite.

I'm always looking for an opportunity to practice my language skills so please don't be shy-- we can practice together!!
I DO plan on learning chess ONE day!! :-P
Hmm... I'm not too bad at cooking + baking. I rather enjoy learning about local recipes/food + would love to cook one evening together :-)
