my name is Hauke Nienkerk and I´m living currently in the small city Trbovlje in Slovenia, due to my European Voluntary Service.
I´m a cheerful, sociable guy with a slight propensity towards curiosity about new places, new cultures and first of all new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As you read, I am right now on a voluntary year in Slovenia and want to take the opportunity to travel around in the south-eastern part of Europe. A friend recommended me couchsurfing, not in the first place because of the opportunity to make a trip affordable, but to avoid living in a sterile hostel and pattern the trip with company with same or even totally different interests!

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the songs of "Free", the music by the german singer "Mine", nearly everything of Cat Stevens, Foo Fighters, Christine and the Queens, Lana del Rey.
On the classical side a few symphonies by Dmitri Shostakovich, Arnold Schönbergs early pieces, the elegiac stuff of Maurice Ravel. Last but not least there is Jean Sibelius!
One of my favorite Movies is "City of God", directed by Steven Spielberg, but also german comedies as "Soul Kitchen" by Fatih Akin.
I´m currently reading "the catcher in the rye" by J.D. Salinger, but I wouldn't say that it will be one of my favorite books. I indeed liked "1984" by George Orwell, more than the counterdraft "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.
