Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel without being a tourist.
ABOUT ME
I run a company with my partner and spend my days getting to do creative, meaningful things. And I can bike around outside whenever I'd like to. I want to write books. Someday I will.
PHILOSOPHY
The Unitarian Universalist principles:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
And the belief that love is a soft form of worship, connection between people is the most valuable thing any of us can find, and home is held for me in the hearts of others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I discovered this project on the verge of Semana Santa in 2007. I bought a one way ticket to Paris and a hostel for three days while my brother was in town with me, and then spent two weeks with three wonderful couchsurfers. I haven't had much of a chance to couchsurf or offer a couch since being back in the States, but I do sometimes stay with Unitarian friends of mine on trips, which is very similar, seeing as half the time I only know them through mutual friends. I did make it across the country from Boston to Portland via couch the Summer of 2008.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to see a heart. I got to see a heart hanging still in a woman's chest and hooked to a machine, naked to the world, held in a surgeon's hands. I was able to step up to the table for only thirty seconds, just allowed to look, and what I saw made me stop breathing. It was the most beautiful thing.
