About Me

Quite calm person. I'm not much of a talkative guy, but in time as I warmed to the conversation, even I can talk quite a bit. Though, I'm a good listener; I can listen to your great stories all day and night :)

I think everyone has different perspectives about life. Each person has a different purpose, a different path they had chosen for themselves. So everyone can learn something from anyone or teach something. That's why, I want to meet different people; I want to learn, teach and share...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When visiting a place, city, country etc, I think it is best to meet with local people living there. You may stay at one of the most luxurious hotels, you may stay comfortable. But you won't learn anything about the culture of that place, you won't know how people live their days, what they do in certain occasions, what they eat at their homes, not at restaurants.

That's why I love this society. Thanks to this system, I can find people willing to host me during my travels, and I can learn everything from my hosts. And also while I'm not travelling, I can meet so many people from different parts of the world and listen their stories. Everyone has a different story, and I'd like to hear them if they are willing to share it.

Interests

Generally I like all kinds of art and also outdoor sports.. I love photography and cycling.. My biggest dream to do bike tour for a long time, to travel different places, countries via cycling. In my free time (when I'm not at work), I walk in the city a little, take photos, read books and magazines, watch movies..

But especially the thing I enjoy most is cycling.. I love touring on my bike around the city and the nearby towns/villages. It makes me relax. When I'm on my bike, I feel like I'm free of everything and I can do anything with it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching movies, but some of them are very important for me: V for Vendetta, The Fountain, The Last Samurai, The Pirates of the Caribbean, Kingdom of Heaven, Cloud Atlas and Hayao Miyazaki movies..

I listen almost all kinds of music, but I'm not so good with pop music. Generally I prefer rock music and my favourite singers/bands are: Sebnem Ferah, Manga, Model, NBK, Coldplay, The Fray, Within Temptation...

I love reading. I can read almost all kinds of books. But a well-told story is the best. Favourite authors are Tolkien, Garcia Marquez, Amin Maalouf, Oğuz Atay, George Orwell...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not so awesome, but I've done a few bike trips.

First one was from Bartın (where I live) to Ilgın (my hometown) with 3 friends; 600 km in 5 days.

Second one was to accompany French and Mexican friends on their way to France, from İstanbul to Tekirdağ; 250 km in 4 days.

Third one was from Bartın to Sinop along the Black Sea coast alone; 350 km in 5 days.

And the last one was along the West Coast of Turkey, from Çanakkale to Fethiye; 1400 km in 3 weeks.

But the most amazing thing I've done is starting Couchsurfing. Thanks to it, I got to meet so many amazing people, which are now friends of mine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always open to learn something new, and I think everyone can learn something from anyone.

And if I know something you want to learn, I'll gladly try to teach you; even though I'm not a good teacher :)
