ABOUT ME

Well I'm originally from a small country town in the south of New Zealand but moved to Christchurch to study at university. After graduating I left New Zealand and after only meaning to be away for a couple of years it is now 9 years later and I'm still trotting about the globe. Have lived in Australia, Japan and London briefly and travelled extensively around Asia as well as through North and South America, Europe and the sub-continent. Love experiencing differnt ways of life and cultures and very open minded and down to earth.

PHILOSOPHY

Have always thought that travelling broadens your mind and opens your eyes to a different way of life, while letting you appreciate one or two small things from home. Roaming the globe independently I feel gives you a sense of achievement and allows you to interact with others that you wouldn't otherewise have had the chance to mix with. It also challenges you as a person and allows you to look in the mirror. In saying that I believe in living life for yourself and not for what society expects.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After travelling extensively I'm always up for sharing ideas a views on different things. A nice change from the hostel scene. Also hope to host when back in NZ.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After having it suggested from other travellers I've finally taken the plunge and surfed at a few hosts places over the past 1/2 a year. So far it's been great. A range of hosts and a range of ideas and views has really mixed things up nicely. Hope to host when getting back to NZ :)

Being from NZ I'm also a keen rugby supporter but also enjoy following tennis and cricket as well. Love walking/roaming about interesting cities and also hiking as well. Into art galleries and jazz. Big fan of good coffee.

Recently been reading Burmese days, First they killed my Father, When broken glass floats and The full montezuma.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Drinking mongolian firewater with a 75 year old nomad in a small yurt in the mid west of Mongolia with only dried cow dung as my source of fuel. Sharing stories about Sir Edmund Hillary with an old Sherpa woman in the Himalayas while treking towards Everest base camp. Sunrise at the top of Angkor Wat (pre-touristy days) with my some monkey friends in pure silence. OK, that's 3 things...sorry.
