About Me

Hello! I'm currently on a quest to connect with my ancestral roots. I have mostly Scottish/Gaelic and Italian heritage, and decided to journey out to these homelands. I'll be visiting friends along the way, and hopefully meeting interesting new people. September is dedicated to my paternal (Scottish) lineage, and October is dedicated to my maternal (Italian) lineage.

For work back at home, I'm self employed. I'm a bodyworker, yoga instructor, reiki master, and coach. I often blend all of these modalities together, personalized for each person. Along with my 1:1 work, I also host ecstatic dances and give sound healing ceremonies. I'm continually inspired and forever learning more about the body, mind, and spirit.

I like making art, visual or audible, usually in a collaborative manor with other creatives. I'll be traveling with my flute and shruti box (a lovely drone instrument). I fantasize of finding a beautiful celtic flute to play during my travels 😍 I've also always been drawn to the art and storytelling power of Tarot, and am excited to go to Italy, the birthplace of that practice.

I am a tidy and courteous person. I love to cook and share food. I would also be honored to provide a host with any of my healing services to show my gratitude to your hospitality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There's so much of the world I want to see, and having a free place to stay with interesting people will allow that to happen. I've also really enjoyed hosting people when I had the space and ability to host, and look forward to the day when I have a home again to do so.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a poor sense of time. I accidentally stayed out on a trail in Joshua Tree too late wearing prescription sunglasses only. I made this grave realization during sunset, when I was still 3.5 miles away from my car. Eventually, I had to take them off in order to see as the sun went under the horizon-- except my eyesight is quite poor... even with the flashlight app of my phone (a phone without service, mind you) eventually, I lost the trail.
I was lost and alone in the middle of the desert. And it fully became night. With very limited capability to see, and a half empty bottle of water (it was also half full, but in that moment I could only see the emptiness)

Upon realizing this, I panicked. My nervous system chose the flight response, and I literally ran around in circles going "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck". I noticed myself freaking out, so I sat my ass on the ground and breathed to settle down. Inhale. Exhale. There was nothing I could do but breathe.

And once calm, I looked up to see the beautiful starry night sky. Holy wow, it was beautiful. I had to put those prescription sunglasses back on to see them clearly, but I knew some of those stars. I quickly found the big dipper and Polaris, aka the North Star. Even though my sense of time is atrocious, my sense of direction is astute. I had the foresight to look at the trail map prior to going down it, so I knew it headed southeast. All I needed to do was walk northwest.

So using the stars to navigate, I did just that. Lo and behold, I found the trail.
I have never felt more connected to this world

Teach, Learn, Share

What does this section even mean? Am I supposed to teach you something?

Okay, well did you know that trees communicate with each other? If one tree in a forest is attacked by, say, termites, that tree will release signals to warn the nearby trees. It'll be like "yo, these termites are killing me, protect yourselves!" And so the neighbor trees will release their own special chemicals to fend off the termites and be saved! The OG infected tree will die, but will have saved the rest. The trees understand this sacrifice and send their own energy to keep the stump alive, even when the rest of the tree has died. Gone but not forgotten.

There. Ya just got learned.
