Overview
About Me
I am an avid outdoors-woman and young professional. I am in the throws of starting up my own business, which for me means straddling that delicate line of running a successful, profitable business and still having time to spend adventuring. I am at my best when my bike or a gear-ridden backpack is close by.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people! I love that Couchsurfing provides travelers with an automatic connection to a place. What better way to experience a new place than meeting the people who know it best! I've really enjoyed my couchsurfing experiences, especially the international ones because it felt like to most direct line to learning about a new culture.
My boyfriend and I live together in a small home right in the downtown area of Durango. He is also on couchsurfing- https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/recyclist
So if you want to stay with us, only one request is necessary. Both of us are pretty diligent about checking for requests.
Interests
Biking (any and all sorts- road, touring, tandeming, mountain biking, bike packing- I love it all, but mountain biking was my introduction to the sport, so it remains the closest to my heart), back packing, rafting, climbing, horseback riding, skiing, hiking and trail running basically covers my outdoor interests, but I am also an avid reader and love winding down my day by cooking a good meal to share with friends

Music, Movies, and Books
Music- pretty open book for me. I like just about everything (ok, maybe not country). What I listen to on a daily basis depends on my environment and mood. Favorites of late would be Cloud Cult, Hozier, and the XX.
Movies- The Patriot, Death at a Funeral (obviously the English one, if you've seen both you know what I mean), Easy A, Finding Nemo, Gran Torino, Juno, and almost any nerdy history documentary
Books- Ah books... I worked as a librarian for several years, and books were an essential part of my life even long before that. I am a firm supporter of self education, and I think books help facilitate that. I've plenty of favorite classics (To Kill a Mockingbird, Crime and Punishment, O Pioneers) but I also read plenty of modern stuff (City of Thieves, All the Light We Cannot See, Looking for Alaska, the Story of Edgar Sawtelle). Also, like movies, I have a special place in my heart for any nerdy history material, Frozen in Time and Flyboys are some of the more recent that come to mind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time when I joined the crew of a commercial dory (wooden boat) trip. I had 8 hours notice before I had to report to the warehouse, and six of that was spent driving there. It was the single best two weeks of my life, I think :)
