About Me
Hello! I'm Hayley. About a year ago, I dropped out of college and moved across the US to live in an Intentional Community in LA, and haven't looked back since! I spent about six months in a social justice oriented community focusing on shared (sustainable meals) and encouraging each other's growth, which changed my life entirely by making me a much gentler person. Since, I have moved into a slightly smaller arts focused collective, valuing absurdity, play, and radical vulnerability. I myself am quite community service oriented, trying to make a positive impact on all of the places I float through and the people I meet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I first visited LA I was couchsurfing and made all the great friends I live with today. Later, as a member of the community, I could then lend the same couch to others! It's a great experience to be welcomed into a home and be shown a new city with love and care. I want to provide this experience with others, and continue my travels this way as well.
Music, Movies, and Books
Although I love a wide variety of music, especially punk, my heart belongs to bluegrass. Nothing can get me singing like a mandolin can! I'm also a lover of cinema, specifically femme horror, claymation, and anything a little strange in general. As for books, I especially enjoy poetry. I also travel with my copy of Katrina Vandenburg's Atlas. I also really enjoy fiction, my favorite title being The Poisonwood Bible.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The hardest thing I've ever done is complete training in Trauma Informed Care, which I now use to advocate victims of domestic and sexual violence in Los Angeles.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will cook you anything (and it will be delicious). Southern style breakfast is my specialty, but I can do literally anything you like, I love trying new things. Cooking is my biggest love language and I am always happy to fill someone's belly.
