About Me

I'm a relatively normal human! Take interest in almost everything, talk a lot, try to be kind to everyone, be brave in my decision-making & enjoy the simple things (music, cheese, a good beer or vino, the elements, creatures great & small) in the meantime.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because I am a friendly & relaxed individual who enjoys meeting other friendly like-minded individuals. To hear about their life experiences/travelling stories and tips and I believe the best way to enjoy and experience a place is to get to know its people/locals

Interests

Never get bored of cooking, eating, talking and reading books about FOOD. (having worked mainly in kitchens/hospitality/cookery schools). The sea/marine life (particularly cetacean conservation, did a lot of whale stranding volunteering in NZ) sailing, graffiti, street art (esp stencilling) architecture, people, history, design, colour, trees and flowers. Raw materials - wood & glass especially.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hip-Hop/Soul/Funk top of the list, but very eclectic taste in music! The only genre I really don't enjoy is heavy metal!

Movies; I'll list a few off the top of my head - In Bruges, Pan's Labyrinth, City of God, The Departed, American Gangster (any gangster movies actually) Le Grand Bleu, The Big Lebowski, True Romance, American History X, The Bourne Trilogy & Legacy.

Books: Roald Dahl, all the way. Thomas Hardy if I'm feeling my brain needs a workout. If I want to get lost, historical fiction: Hilary Mantel, 'bring up the bodies' 'a change of climate' 'eight months on ghazzah street' and my favorite is Chilean author Isabel Allende 'Maya's notebook' 'daughter of fortune' and 'Ines of my soul'. Recently I am into Murakami and have read several of his crazy fictions (style and class of his own) I read the cult (cliché) novel 'Shantaram' recently too and absolutely LOVED it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just recently crossed the Atlantic in a small yacht from Spain to Columbia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking! Absolutely, love to teach people that love food and are interested in cooking how to make simple, fresh, & delicious things. No specific cuisine, but main emphasis on fresh & seasonal produce and ingredients and always up for learning new recipes and methods and experimenting with new produce!! Very keen to learn Spanish to a decent standard, and likewise, non-English speakers I would be very willing to help with that! Really enjoy the English language and don't get bored with answering questions/help and practice!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food/Wine - cooking and eating is always about company!
