Overview
About Me
I enjoy travelling the world and meeting people. I've lived the majority of my life in Tasmania and one year in Costa Rica while on student exchange.
My husband and I have been fortunate to have many amazing experiences while travelling thanks to the Couchsurfing platform and when we are not travelling we like to give back to this community by hosting travellers when we can.
I have a variety of interests outside of work, mainly sport and the gym, our dogs, gardening and home renovations.
We are not a hotel, nor do we host for extended periods (only request 2-3 days max). If we accept your request we are inviting you in to our home as our guest and want to spend some time getting to know you and your story. We expect you to be here at least one night for dinner with us, whether you cook or we do. Couchsurfing is about the cultural exchange.
** Tips when looking for a host **
1). Read your potential hosts profile!
Hosts can tell if you have or have not.
2). Address your host in your message when asking to stay.
3). Personalise your message.
Tell me about yourself. Do we have anything in common? Why do you think we would be a good match for couch surfing?
4). Update your profile.
Is it filled out/completed? Do you have recent photos? Do you have any references? The more 'no's to these questions relating to your profile, the more likely you will receive a 'no' from me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people on my travels and equally to meet people on their travel adventures, I believe we learn a lot about ourselves and gain an appreciation for other cultures and hospitality while travelling.
Interests
I love dogs (especially Schnauzers),
I co-created a Facebook group for Schnauzer owners and appreciators, we organise catch ups and group walks in Tasmania.
I currently work as a Surgical Sterilising Technician for a private hospital in Hobart which involves shift work.
I also enjoy going to the gym, going fishing, playing softball, being hands on (cooking, baking, sewing, home renovations etc.), walking, socialising and of course travelling and meeting people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy Spanish music, it has a good beat to it and it helps me with retaining the language.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived in Costa Rica for a year as an exchange student. It was an amazing opportunity for self growth and understanding. I'm so appreciative of my host family for looking after me for almost a full year. They are very generous and I am forever grateful.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can recommend things to do, see and try in our amazing state. We have maps and some tourist information.
I'm interested in learning about you and parts of your culture and having meaningful conversation.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We enjoy socialising and getting to know our couch surfing guests or hosts over a drink, shared meal or board games, to us this is what couch surfing is, a cultural exchange.
If you are staying with us then please don't treat us like a hotel. If you are staying with us we expect to interact and share time with you, we are opening our home to you after all.
We can offer you a roof over your head, bed, shower, kitchen and laundry.
I currently work shift work, this involves a mix of early morning (6am) starts and late night (10pm) finishes. My husband Joel mostly works from home (9:30am-4:30pm) and must concentrate a lot on what he's doing, so he may not be able so socialise much during these times.
We have two Miniature Schnauzers, Poppy (7 years) and Lena (6 months), both girls sleep inside or outside, whatever they decide.
House rules:
* No returning crazily late at night or very early in the morning after a night out.
* Please keep your room tidy.
* Prepare and eat your food in the kitchen/dining room.
* Do not abuse or annoy our dogs.
