About Me

Aloha!

I am from Hawaii, but no I don't surf. I do, however, enjoy hiking and exploring the islands. I enjoy the serenity of being in nature away from the noise of the city. I am the kind of person who enjoys the city for 10 minutes but in need of nature therapy for 15. I am a person of contradictions just like everyone else. I am a social butterfly one moment and the next I found myself alone. I am spontaneous personally but when I am involved in a group, I plan. I am a curious person about people and places, which probably explains why I am an anthropologist or just simply being a human from a different culture with different ways of understanding the world. Right now, this summer, I will be traveling a little bit on the US West Coast, Central America, and South America! I am quite excited!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because I think it's more interesting and fun to visit a place while interacting with those who live in it. And I'd had the best experiences in Canada where I first did it. I made friends with those whom I stayed with and that's the beauty of it all! Also because this world is full of kind people, so let's not buy into the fear that is often sold to us by media and politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like authors such as Jhumpa Lahiri, Betty Smith (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), Louisa May Alcott (Little Women), and much more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't think it hasn't happened yet. I'm going whale shark swimming on an island off the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Don't worry I'm not going to harm them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always like learning about other people's cultures and beliefs (I know it may sound boring but I truly am an anthropologist so I like seeing the world from someone else's perspective) and I can share my own. I am straddling two different cultures and beliefs, so I think that's cool!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Loads of local snacks?
