About Me
Hey Friends -
My name is Hazel! I'm a really easy going individual - who loves to meet new people. I'm actively trying to have as many new experiences as possible, expand my horizons and live outside of my comfort zone!
I finished my B.A. in Psychology at the University of British Columbia and worked in the healthcare industry before I moved to Japan.
I hope one day to go back to school for Occupational Therapy, so I am trying to achieve the ultimate balance between pursuing my career goals and devoting time and energy to exploring this wonderful planet :)
Most importantly I try to live fully in the present moment, enjoying the now!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really love that Couchsurfing allows for a unique travel experience - and the opportunity to make friends and connections in all corners of the world.
I want to make the most of my travel experiences and help others do the same. Couchsurfing allows me to meet like-minded individuals who are interested in developing the same kinds of connections as me or simply wish to pay it forward by providing a place to rest and recharge for those in need.
Interests
Without a doubt my number 1 interest is stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things - thus, my interests are endless!
I can appreciate a wide range of activities - but some of my regular hobbies include biking, yoga, organized/team sports (anything active really), skiing/snowboarding, reading, painting, concerts & music (attempting to play guitar/sing), dancing, and food - either making new recipes or checking out different restaurants. I love learning about and discussing science and listening to different podcasts about a variety of topics.
I really enjoying checking out famous landmarks and attractions but if I had a choice I would always choose a long scenic drive, hike, to a national park, beach, mountain, or any natural wonder!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all music, especially if it is live! Recently - as in the past week, I've been listening to Hey Rosetta!, Lucius, Fleet Foxes.
Movies are great - I love anything by Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese, and I have a soft spot for animated movies. Some other favorites of mine include: Amelie, The Big Chill, Annie Hall, Pineapple Express, A Fish Called Wands - the list goes on.
Some interesting books I've read lately include "Flow" and "Women Who Run with Wolves."
